Many people consider blogging as a pretty simple task. You just need to write blog and publish it, pretty simple, but did you ever analyze if you blog on a daily basis only, how many blog posts and data are you leaving on your blog? It is an asset for you, which is actually stored on some other PC.
If you are having web hosting from some very reliable company like Hostgator, then I can say that you could be a bit relax, but if you are having hosting from a company which is not that much reliable, then you can anytime might lose all these data.

[alert-announce] How to Maintain Your WordPress Blogs! [/alert-announce]
And to do so here are 4 necessary tasks which you need to do regularly to maintain the best health of your website.
[alert-note] Keep Regularly Updating [/alert-note]
You all know that WordPress comes up with new updates on a regular basis. These days they are using the auto update features on your blog, but still there are chances that your blog might not have the updated version of WordPress.
It is your duty for the safety of your WordPress blog that you should update it regularly, so that is should have the updated software installed on it.
What will happen if you don’t update it regularly? I guess nothing more. Maximum what will happen, someone might hack your blog and show some crappy things on it, without even having your consent.
So that is the reason why you should always have the updated versions of WP installed.
[alert-note] Keep Regular BackUps [/alert-note]
BackUps are quite important. You need to either fix a schedule to take back ups of your blog or you can install a plugin which can do so automatically and store the backup at some place other than your web hosting.
It is something which can always help you to re-build your blog with exactly the same things which you might have lost.
While backing up your WordPress blog, you need to take the backups of two things, once being the entire database of your blog and second some files which you might have modified in between, along with the wp-content folder.
Normally whatever changes we make in the templates of our blog, are stored on this wp-content folder only. Even if we upload some files, it also goes to the same folder. Hence its regular backup is very much required.
Other than the content of this folder wp-content, if you ever modified any files like making some changes on index.php file or similar, then you must need to take the back up of the same, so that your changes might not be reversed back. Plus always do take a back up of your wp-config.php file. It is quite crucial.
[alert-note] Managing Plugins [/alert-note]
I guess you all remember the things which I said about WordPress Plugins in the post Precautions required while installing any New WordPress Plugins! While maintaining the good health of your blog, plugins plays a very important role. You all need to update your plugins to their updated and latest versions all the time, and you must need to optimize the use of plugins on your blog.
If you are not using some of the plugins, and having no plan to use it in future as well, then I would suggest you all to remove that from your blog. Leaving an unused plugin on your blog is somehow dangerous and vulnerable to hackers and other security risks.
Also remember one thing, if you are updating the versions of your WordPress software, then before doing so, you must need to update all your plugins otherwise you might not even access the admin panel of your blog. I once updated the WordPress software of one of my blog and later I found myself unable to login to the admin panel.
[alert-note] Managing Broken Links [/alert-note]
As I already said that broken links are a negative aspect of your website, and you should understand the importance of broken links for SEO purposes, so if you don’t want to get negative marks for your blog from Google, then you must need to check the broken links of your website on a regular basis, and clear it too.
As I already suggested the use of plugins for managing broken links on your blog, I guess that is more than enough to maintain the health of your blog.
