If I want to forget all bad things that happened to me, which is the reason for me being upset, my mind would wash them forever and will never recollect them, but if want to wail over issues that happened to me, and I am not ready to forget them, then even my mind will not be able to let it go. It will certainly remind me of those bad days because of which I was once upset. Therefore meditation helps you to direct your mind as to which matters to forget and which ones to remember and hence you can forget all those bad times you had.
