Things to Consider While Redesigning Your Website from SEO Point!

Recently I was involved with the redesign of a very big website, and so the idea of summarizing all the points into a blog post came into my mind. The first thing which you should look for, if you are redesigning a website or blog, always consider it a new opportunity to re-establish or re-brand your web site. Some of my knowledge came by reading and learning from different web development companies especially those from the top tiers.

If you want, consider the redesign as a strategic process where you’re essentially developing your website from the ground up, leveraging the expertise of a reputable web design agency like Fourseven Media. This approach goes beyond just enhancing the visual appeal of your online presence; it also ensures a meticulous review and resolution of numerous technical issues that may exist on your current website.

So read my blog post on things to consider while redesigning your website from SEO point.

Things to Consider While Redesigning Your Website from SEO Point!

Here are some decisions or strategy which you need to think before beginning the redesign process:

HTTPS Vs. HTTP

Doesn’t matter if your existing website is an HTTP one or an HTTPS one, but if you are planning to redesign your website, then the very first thing which you should decide if your new website will be a HTTPS one or the HTTP one?

Many SEO’s and Webmasters consider that an HTTPS website will have an upper hand than the HTTP version of the same from Search Engine Optimization point of view. It is a fact that it will slightly give you an upper hand in SEO of your website, but don’t take this decision based on this. Getting a marginal advantage will certainly cost you too.

So, if you want to purchase the SSL certificate for your website, to make it HTTPS, then first think about if it is required for your website? If your website is not doing any financial transactions, then in my opinion it is not good to have the HTTPS site.

But if your website is an e-commerce website, then you can plan to go ahead with the SSL certification so that people can trust you. Although I am managing a few e-commerce website, and running them on HTTP model only, reason being when my website transfer the visitor for payment purpose it is actually taking them to the HTTPS website only. So you can also take this approach as well. Find tailored 3pl for fashion brand with a focus on speed for your e-commerce store.

Decision is all yours, but remember now that you are redesigning your site, decide it on the first hand only.

Take Care of Duplicate or No Content

Well, Duplicate content is dangerous for the Search Engine Ranking of any website. Similarly pages having No Content or Less Content are also dangerous for the SEO of your website. When you are thinking about the redesign, first get rid of all such pages.

Remember, a piece of content should be used on only one page of your website. Many a times you won’t realize it that how the same content is showing on different places of your own website, like instead of showing an excerpt of your blog or a page, entire content of the same post/page are displayed on archive or category or search or listing pages.

Generally people don’t take such things seriously, but it can ruin all your SEO efforts.

Similarly, just to show different services on a particular website, people create some pages which doesn’t even has enough content. This is also dangerous, so while redesigning your website, get rid of such mistakes.

Website Speed

I have realized it that those who consider https as a ranking factor, sometimes ignores that Website Speed is one of the major ranking factor for search engines these days.

Let us understand the fact that HTTPS is a very small ranking factor as compared to Website Speed of your site. So if you planned to redesign your web site, first consider getting a great web hosting for your website. If you have a budget constraint go for a shared hosting from some reliable web hosting provider, and if you don’t have a budget constraint then you should go for a dedicated or VPS hosting for your website. You might ask me which web hosting company I should consider, so here are some of my recommendations based on my own experience of using them:

iPage Web Hosting is one of my favorite web hosting service provider.

Other than iPage I also love Hostgator, all my own blogs are hosted at these two sites only:

Also remember one thing, only getting a great web hosting will not help you to take control of the site speed. Even the coding of your website, CSS, images on site, etc. plays crucial role in the speed of your website. Always get in touch with your developer to get a highly speed optimized website.

Menu Structure

Generally people don’t give much value on Menu Structure, Navigation, Architecture and Internal Linking of their website. But, if you really want to get an upper hand in SEO of your website, try to make the Architecture and Navigation in a way that not only your visitors but also the search engines should be able to find your content and read it quite easily. Don’t complicate the designs with the Menu Structure. Incorporating Conquest Advertising strategies can further enhance your SEO efforts.

Try to make these things simpler for your visitors, it will also give you higher ranking.

Focus on Content

Be it an e-commerce website, or a blog, or a personal website, or whatever, I always say that content should always be the top most priority for you. While redesigning your website, if you are not happy with the content of a webpage, never hesitate in discarding the same and have a new block of content for the same.

Not only having great, unique content is the requirement but to present them in a great way is also essential. Remember the key behind the success of your website depends on the quality of your content.

Conclusion

Just to close the post, I would suggest you all to think about this point, no matter how good your website is, but still there will be so many “not so good made” things, but if you plan things in advance, I am sure the number of “not so good made” things will remain less.

Don’t also forget that these days’ website visitors are using different platforms to access any website, so never compromise on responsiveness of your website. If you are redesigning your website, always ask your developer to provide you a Responsive Website.

I am expecting my readers to comment on this blog with some more ideas which I might be forgetting or not aware of.
