Some Basic SEO Tips which you Might be Missing!

Today we will discuss about some basic SEO tips which you might be missing on your own website or blog. I know that these are some really basic tips only, but still there are chances that we might forget them while implementing.

Normally my mood is not like that which can swing a lot. Don’t know why but today my mood is a bit upset and I don’t want to write anything. But then since I decided to publish a blog daily on my blog I News India, I thought I should choose a topic which is quite easier for me to write upon.

And hence I picked up this topic on SEO.

No matter how big or small your website is, no matter if you developed your website for fun or for some business purposes, but then you will have to accept the fact that the traffic from search engines are the best and very effective method of getting free traffic to your website. I already have shared the blog post on different SEO tips like top 10 SEO tips and tricks for your blog in 2014, or 10 SEO factors which you might not ignore in developing a business website and a few more.

I am quite sure you all know those basic things and almost all of us follow them too on our website. This blog post of mine will discuss about some very basic things which we normally forget about implementing on our website as far as SEO is concerned.

Basic SEO Tips which you Might be Missing!

Some Basic SEO Tips which you Might be Missing!

So here are some basic SEO tips which you might be missing on your website or blog:

Google Webmaster Tools

Being an SEO having around 10+ years of experience I can easily understand the importance of Google Webmaster tools and with my own experience I can easily say that few website owners or bloggers are out here that actually missed configuring webmaster tools account for their website.

Am I wrong?

Are you also falling in the same bracket?

Have you not yet set up the Google webmaster tools account for your website or blog?

If the answer of the last two questions which I asked above is a Yes, then automatically my first question from above becomes a No. And if you are also falling in the same group of people then please don’t worry about that. I am here to help you to understand those things only.

Commonly we did the set up of Google Analytics on our website or blog at the time of installing the same only. But normally we do fail adding our website on Google Webmaster Tools.

To be very frank, if you are the owner of a website or blog then it is a must to configure your Google Webmaster tools account as it will help you in doing SEO of your website. Although your keyword positioning suggested by GWT is not that much reliable, but still it can have some other features like getting notification in case of some malware found on your website, or getting notification against any manual penalties, any types of crawl errors, number of pages indexed, and many more.

By the way, meanwhile you should never forget to add the XML sitemap in GWT accounts of your website or blog. This is vital.

Broken Links on Your Website

One of the things which I too usually ignore on my websites is broken links. No doubt links plays very crucial role in the SEO of your website, no matter if it is your inbound links or the outgoing links from your website.

As far as incoming links are concerned, their quality also matters a lot on your website. We all know about it and remain careful about the quality of incoming links. But normally we do ignore outbound links from our own website.

The quality of outbound links influences the SEO of your website. Mainly broken links are vital. It can kill your website as well. You just need to take care of those broken links from your website, try to rectify them, edit them or delete them and clear your website from broken links.

Site Loading Time

To make our website or blog fashionable, we normally ignore the main SEO factors and it is of site loading time. Normally flashy websites or sites having too heavy graphics or images look good to human eyes. But then it increases the loading time of the site, as uploading of those things take much more time than normal websites.

As I mentioned in some old blog posts of mine that site loading time is considered as one of the main SEO factors for any websites, so ignoring this might harm the prospect of your website.

Bing Webmaster Tools

Similar to Google Webmaster Tools Bing also has a webmaster tools. How many of you do know about this?

During last one or two years Bing has improved them brilliantly. If you really want to think about optimizing your website with your target keywords, it can be an ideal place for you along with WMT data.

So I would suggest every website owner to do implement the same and add your website to your Bing Webmaster Tools account.

Social Media

Most of the website or blog owners do this mistake of ignoring social media signals of their site. You know what Google is giving too much importance on social media signals.

The basic reason behind this attention which Google is giving to social media signals is that these days Google think that everybody has an account on social media sites like FaceBook, Twitter, G+, etc. and whenever they like something, they simply like it and share it on those sites as well.

No matter what types or how less social media signals your website is getting, but you should not ignore them for the SEO of your website. Do monitor them and try to respond to them as well.

Google SERP

The last but not the least point which is coming into my mind at this moment of time is your presence on search engine result page i.e. SERP. Do search for your potential keywords and see where you are ranking. Prepare a list of those data and analyze them carefully.

It will definitely help you to track your websites presence on search engines.

Here is a summary of the points which you should take care of while doing SEO of your website or blog:

  • Google Analytics
  • Google Webmaster Tools
  • XML Sitemap
  • Indexing Status
  • Crawling Errors
  • Informative, Unique and Quality Content
  • Optimizing Title Tags
  • Alt tags
  • External Links from your site
  • Broken Links of your website
  • Quality of Incoming Links
  • Social Media Sharing
