Last night I wrote about how to write killer blog posts. The moment when I was writing the same, I thought after all why do we need a blog at first instance? What are the benefits of having your own blog?

I am quite sure that many people think that blogs are meant for a technical person only. Don’t you too think the same?

Don’t you think that blog are nothing but an online form of your personal diaries and a place where you can share your feelings?

If your response is yes, then this blog post is for you only. If you say no to  above questions, then it does not means that this blog post is not for you and you might go out from it, but you can also go through this post to understand the benefits which we might get with having a blog of our own.

Frankly speaking, blogging has traveled a lot since its introduction. Gone are the days when people were thinking about blogging as a personal tool only, now a day it has been used as a great marketing tool and a place for public relation.

Benefits of Having Your Own Blog!

Here are some of the benefits which you might get with having your own blog:

Your Own Voice

A blog is the place where you can share your own opinion or voice about anything.

I can even do the same with Facebook or Twitter?

I am sure you all are saying the same to me right now. Let me tell you about why blog is different than expressing yourself on Facebook or Twitter.

I won’t deny that you can share your feelings or opinion with the help of your status update, or note at Facebook, or with 140 characters status update on Twitter, but those are having some limitations. It is your own blog which will provide you more versatility and more adaptability, plus it will also build the global identity of yourself. As you know the biggest limitation with Twitter is the limited space to express yourself, and with Facebook is that it has very limited reach unless you are a big celebrity and a huge fan base over there.

With your blog, you can have the freedom to express yourself, write whatever you want (obviously not slang language or a post to defame someone).

If you are running an online business, you might be able to write detailed benefits of using the products which you are selling, or the benefits of services which you are offering. These details might not be used as a press release, though.

Similarly, if you are an entrepreneur or a big celebrity, then also blogs will play an important role is stay in touch with your followers.

As I mentioned in the above point that how a blog plays a very important role in staying connected with your followers. Through a blog you can always remain connected with your followers, friends, colleagues, or clients as well.

You might ask me that we can stay connected with all those through other social networking sites as well?

Obviously yes, but then your blog will have public settings, through which anyone can be able to access your content, comment over there, and like or share the same through their own social networking profiles, on the other hand connecting through your FB account or twitter handle is not that much simple as it looks with blogs.

Frankly a blog is a very personal way to connect with people.

A blog is the perfect place to motivate others. If you are having expertise in some field, there is no harm to share your knowledge about the same with others. It will help them hugely.

On the other hand if you are having a static website, it will be hard to motivate others to visit your website on a regular basis, on the other hand if you can have a blog, you can inspire them to visit your website frequently.

If you are updating your blog on a regular basis, people will feel urged to look for it again and again, as per your schedule. Thus you are getting good loyal followers for your website with the help of blog.

Well, to be very frank, these day’s companies are seriously looking for employees who have a strong online influence. With a great blog you might be able to get a good job as companies wanted to associate with your influence and this way their brand will get promoted automatically.

Now this is a point, which I myself can support upon with my own experience as well. If you are a regular reader of my blogs, you will definitely notice a change in my writing abilities during last few years. I have always accepted the fact that English language is one of my biggest weaknesses, and I would not be able to write some really nice posts.

But do you know the secret behind improving your writing ability?

Well, it is to write as much as possible. The same thing which I am doing from years, and I guess, I am improving hugely.

To be very frank, in my opinion blog is the best way to express yourself, so that your ex-employer, ex-bosses, ex-colleagues or old friends might be able to notice you.

Well, there are so many other benefits as well, which you can be able to explore once you will try your hand in this field. One of such thing is that you will soon realize that you have values to others. When someone will comment on your blog, when someone will discuss about your blog, when someone will share your blog in social networking sites, all these things will give you the sheer feeling of happiness.

Not only this, believe me with blogging you will become conscious about your choices, as you will realize that you are now a public face, and you can’t afford to share some silly things with your followers. You will become more conscious towards your words, as you too will have a brand value now.
