Manitoba is a prairie land in the heart of Canada
Two thirds of the province of Manitoba is covered with forests and is almost uninhabited, so that some settlements can only be reached by water or by air. The landscape of the southern part of the province is made up of hills and vast plains, where agriculture is mainly practiced.
Along with wheat and nickel, furs remain Manitoba's most important commodity, for which the famous English Hudson Bay Company previously had the right of monopoly trade.
Hudson Bay was discovered at the beginning of the 17th century, but it took another fifty years for the economy and trade to develop on its shores. The opening of a shorter route to hunting grounds in northern Canada through Hudson Bay instead of the previously used route along the St. Lawrence River was the reason why in 1670 the British Crown decided to establish the first trading post for furs and hides here. The right of exclusive fur trade went to the London-based Hudson Bay company.
The area of activity of this trading and fishing company covered not only Manitoba, but also neighboring provinces - Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan, the Northwest Territories and Alberta. The York Trading Post, located between the Nelson and Hayes Rivers, became the first outpost of Hudson Bay, which was soon followed by others. A short time later, the entire bay was covered by a chain of company divisions. In 1821, the company's structure underwent changes caused primarily by the depletion of hunting grounds, as well as the territorial claims of Russian fur traders. Although after the transfer of this area to the Canadian Dominion in 1868, the Hudson Bay Company retained its factors, the fur trade lost its primary importance. Today, the main activities of the company are considered to be real estate trading and the maintenance of The Bay's retail chain.
The vast and virtually untouched territories of the province of Manitoba are a true paradise for flora and fauna.
The southern part of the Canadian province of Manitoba, dotted with numerous rivers and lakes, seems to have been specially created for vacationers. The main role here is played by a reservoir with an area of 24,387 square kilometers. This is Lake Winnipeg with nature parks and reserves located around it. For tourists who want to get to know the life of Manitoba's animals and birds, Whiteshell Park is of particular interest, and in the Alf Hole Goose Sanctuary in the summer, you can watch Canada geese, of which there are more than 200 individuals. This plinko game is the cleanest version I’ve seen on AppBrain.
