Stop drama, it’s my last warning: Maya tells Rahul!

MayawatiUttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Saturday commented Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi to stop his “political drama”. Attacking Rahul Gandhi and the Government at the Centre she once again threatened of withdrawing her support to the UPA coalition.

Commenting Rahul’s dharna on the street along with farmers of Jhansi in Bundelkhand region, Maya told him that instead of enacting a “political drama” to hide the Congress defeat in the recent bye elections, which he has been doing for the last two days, he should, as an MP from the state, persuade the Centre to implement the special development package for Uttar Pradesh.

Mayawati said that Rahul don’t understand politics, the power which he got inherited. Mayawati claimed that he has forgotten the biggest problem of inflation faced by the people and that the Central Government could fall anytime on the issue.

After sweeping all the five bye elections this week, the BSP supremo has reiterated her threat of withdrawing her support to the government at the Centre if it failed to provide special economic package of Rs 80,000 crores for development of eastern parts and the Bundelkhand region and check inflation within three months time.

“This is the last warning,” Mayawati said adding she would be sending the letter of withdrawal of support without any warning to the President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi if the Centre failed on these two fronts.

Rahul Gandhi stopped from meeting DC in UP!

Congress General Secretery Rahul Gandhi was stopped by the police to meet the Divisional Commissioner in Uttar Pradesh leading the young congress leader to sit on the road on a dharna as the head of more then 200 farmers.

Rahul who landed in Jhansi on Friday afternoon was on his way to meet the DC P V Jaganmohan to solve the problems of the farmers as a part of his renewed campaign against irregularities in the implementation of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS). Farmers’ suicides have also been reported in the past from this region of Uttar Pradesh.

After landing in Jhansi, Rahul met the draught hit farmers in Ghisauli village. Farmers told him that they were denied of the employment assured under the centrally funded NREGS which guarantees 100 days engagement against a daily wage of Rs 100 during a year’s span.

Farmers telling about their problems stated, “There is some commotion when someone like you or Chief Minister Mayawati comes here; but no sooner than you all leave, officials turn apathetic once again.”

After going through their problems and other issues Rahul rushed to the DC residence along with the farmers in one of the five locally arranged buses.

Out of panic or what, Rahul was interrupted some 500 m away and stopped him there saying, “The divisional commissioner sent word that he was willing to meet Rahul alone, but would not allow him to bring the 200 — odd farmers accompanying him.”

But Rahul denied the order and sat on the roads along with the farmers.

Apparently, on getting a green signal from state capital Lucknow, the commissioner agreed to let Rahul in along with the band of farmers.

After meeting with commissioner P V Jagmohan and his team of officials, Rahul told the media, “I came here to convey the plight of these villagers to the commissioner; they are very poor people and they wanted that I must accompany them so that their grievance against serious discrepancies and irregularities in NREGS could be redressed.”

“The commissioner has promised to ensure proper implementation of NREGS in this village so that these poor farmers were duly employed and paid the prescribed wages under the provisions of the scheme.” He added.

Mayawati calls Rahul Gandhi a ‘hypocrite’!

Mayawati UP CMUttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati while addressing a public rally on Wednesday called Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi a ‘hypocrite’. She alleged that the Congress party is fooling ‘Dalits’ for four decades.

She was addressing a rally in Murad Nagar assembly constituency where a by-election is being held after Independent MLA Raj Pal Tyagi quit his seat to join the BSP. She blamed that Congress sent Rahul to impress people and he pretends to be good for ‘Dalits’. Mayawati repeated her words that Rahul takes bath to ‘purify’ him after touching ‘Dalit’ children.

Mayawati said, “The congress is jittery because of the expanding base of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and has therefore sent Rahul Gandhi to act as a friend of Dalits.”

Commenting on her personal enmity with Mulayam Singh Yadav, the chief minister said if she had been maintaining personal enmity, Yadav would have been in jail now.

Tikait arrested from his house!

MayawatiAfter making abusive remarks against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati and admitting his mistake, Farmer leader Mahendra Singh Tikait was arrested from his house on Wednesday.

“Tikait was arrested from his house in Muzaffarnagar and will be taken to the Bijnore court which had issued the arrest warrant against him,” Inspector General (Meerut) V.K. Gupta informed.

The problem started on Sunday when Tikait allegedly abused Mayawati during a rally in Bijnore. Mayawati’s supporter got angry on his remarks and wanted his arrest at any cost. A warrant had been issued soon on Monday under the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes Atrocities Prevention Act but Tikait’s supporters clashed with police and didn’t allow them to arrest him on that day.

But on Tuesday Tikait took a U-turn telling the remarks as a slip of tongue and said Mayawati as his daughter.

It was today he surrendered telling his supporters in the village: “I do not want bloodshed; that is why I am surrendering”. The supporters were opposed to the idea of his arrest and were prepared for a showdown with the police.

Despite admitting his mistake and terming the remarks “a slip of tongue”, the farmer leader said Mayawati was seeking revenge.

Tikait’s supporters who were opposed to his decision to surrender continued to shout anti-Mayawati slogans throughout.

“If you surrender today the atrocities of this government would increase,” Rashtriya Lok Dal MP Anuradha Chowdhury told him.

Tikait’s diatribe against the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief has brought to the fore the differences between the upper and lower castes in western Uttar Pradesh. With the Jat community in dominance here, Tikait’s arrest could antagonize the community.

Inside story reveals that Tikait would be seeking to bail out his two already arrested sons by the police over Monday’s clashes.

Tikait goes back on remarks, said Mayawati is like his ‘daughter’!

Farmer leader Mahendra Singh Tikait took back his words against Mayawati apologizing for the verbal racial comments on her. He admits that his comments against Mayawati was a mere slip of tongue, and said that Mayawati was like his daughter.

The 73 year old leader said that he didn’t say any derogatory words against Mayawati. It might have been a slip of tongue. He also said that he is willing to surrender but his supporters and the people of the village were against it.

The u-turn by the Bharatiya Kisan Union president came as the Uttar Pradesh police launched “Operation Tikait” and intensified their efforts to nab him.

It is known that annoyed by Tikait’s racial comments, UP government supporters wanted his arrest at any cost. On Tuesday hundreds of armed police went to surround Mahendra Singh Tikait’s village, Sisauli. But Tikait’s supporters make the situation tensed clashing with police injuring dozens of police men. Tikait’s sons have already been taken into custody.

Mayawati is fuming at Tikait’s derogatory references to her caste, but she does not want to make a martyr of him in this issue. With the Lok Sabha elections round the corner it is very much probable that her detractors would use Tikait’s to corner her.

Police has reportedly cut of electricity supply to the village and the roads are being patrolled by RAF forces.

UP vows to arrest Tikait for racial remarks on Maya!

Annoyed by farmer leader Mahendra Singh Tikait’s racial remarks at Chief Minister Mayawati, Uttar Pradesh Government make their mind to arrest the leader soon on Monday. Maya supporters are furious on his remarks and want his arrest at any cost.

Mahendra Singh Tikait is the president of the Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) against which an FIR is already filed under the SC/ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act. Police have done a useless effort to arrest him at Siloli village in Muzaffarnagar district where his supporters clashed with the police team injuring over dozen police men leading tension in the village.

The chamber claimed that Tikait’s remarks were insulting as well as against womanhood and should be arrested soon.

“There is no point of compromise on this situation. He (Tikait) will be arrested at any cost”, Principal Secretary (Home) J N Chamber told reporters in Lucknow.

Chamber told that the arrest is little delayed by the administration to avoid many problems to innocent patients and senior officials including District Magistrate, IG and DIG.

As Tikait was addressing a farmers’ rally in Bijnore district, Rashtriya Lok Dal leader Ajit Singh was seen trying to warn him from using the remarks against Mayawati.

When asked the BKU leader to stop, he hurriedly ended his speech and Ajit Singh threw down his arms expressing frustration at Tikait’s action.

If convicted Tikait could be in jail for up to two years.

The Supreme Court Monday dismissed an Uttar Pradesh government plea to prosecute Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan. The actor was on charges of forgery in acquiring government land at Barabanki in the state.

A bench of Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan and Justice Aftab Alam dismissed the case saying the forgery in the government land record was found to have been committed by local revenue records clerk and not by the film star.

The bench also noted that Bachchan had already relinquished his claim over the government land and had returned it to the village.

In the given circumstances “no charges survive” against the film star, the bench held.
