The first blast occured at 6:10 pm and all successive blasts happened within next 40 minutes. A second blast has been reported in Central Park of Connaught Place near Pallika Bazaar.

All blasts occured at the most crowded places of Delhi. The blasts on Barkhamba Road went off near the Metro Station. The blast in Cannaught Palace took place at Gopaldas Bhawan’s parking lot and is believed to have been kept in a dustbin.

In an email to media organisations, Indian Mujahideen, the terror outfit that had claimed responsibility for the July 26 Ahmedabad blasts, said it had carried out the serial blasts in Delhi. It threatened that there would be nine blasts in all.

As per reports two people have been detained in the case. Police told that a boy named Rahul had claimed to have seen two terrorists dressed in black kurta pajama placing black parcels in a dustbin. Soon after this, a blast went off. He said the persons were unfamiliar and that he had seen them for the first time.

Twin blasts were then reported in GK-I’s M-Block market, which immediately shut down. The two bombs went off within 5 minutes of each other. One is believed to have been placed in a dustbin and the other in a scooter. The explosives are believed to be made of Ammonium Nitrate tied to integrated circuits

All the blasts were said to be of low intensity. Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit is meeting the Home Minister after which the Union Cabinet will hold an emergency meeting. She told that a compensation package will be announced after the meeting.

Terrorism is biggest threat to South Asia: PM!

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday said that Terrorism is the biggest threat to South Asia’s stability.  While speaking at the opening ceremony of the 3-day long 15th South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) summit in Colombo, he reminded the twin blasts in Bangalore and Ahmadabad and the Indian Embassy attack in Kabul, and stressed the need to fight terrorism.

“Terrorists and extremists don’t know borders. We must act with determination to fight terrorism. We cannot lose the battle against ideologies of hatred,” said Dr Singh.

He further called on the eight-nation regional grouping to identify and address new challenges if it wants to be a dynamic and responsive body. Dr Singh also discussed the surging crude prices and warned member nations that rising crude prices could jeopardize the region’s economic development. He said, “We must pool our resources to tap renewable resources in South Asia”.

Calling the establishment of SAARC Food Bank in 2007 an extremely significant development, Dr Singh said it was “an example of our foresight in the wake of world food crisis”.

“We need a second Green Revolution” to tackle the growing food crisis, the Prime Minister said in his address. “South Asian countries need to work together to ensure food security so that the specter of food shortages and hunger vanishes from our region,” he added.

BJP responsible for deaths of Indians by terrorists: Congress!

The form of terrorismIssue of terrorism is boiling among the political parties also. Congress hit BJP on the subject blaming the deaths of hundreds of Indians at the hands of terrorists were “soiled with the blood of BJP”.

BJP, earlier, targeted Congress on the issue and charged the party for going soft on terrorists. Now its turn to Congress, who raked up the Kandahar episode, recalling the release of three terrorists, including Maulana Masood Azhar, by the then NDA government in exchange for hijacked air passengers.

“Maulana Azhar after his release set up Jaish-e-Mohammed, which killed hundreds of people on this side of the border”, Congress spokesperson Kapil Sibal said.

“The Congress party can legitimately say that responsibility for deaths of hundreds of Indians, soldiers and civilians are soiled with the blood of BJP”, he said.

Blaming the BJP party, he added that if those terrorists had not been released, these terror acts would not have happened.

“You (BJP) released terrorists to the market”, Sibal said and accused the BJP of not “walking the talk” while “talking tough on terrorism”.

Charging the BJP with “double-speak`, he asked: “Where is the white-paper on terrorism that they (BJP) promised to release?”

Terrorism is a very critical issue for any country. Terror attacks are increasing day by day in India. Accusing each other will not give any solution to this critical issue. It is the responsibility of government to keep the citizens secure in every part of the country. Instead of blaming each other, government should use its energy to take necessary action to cease this problem. People should also be aware of their surrounding to avoid any mishappening of terrorist attack by giving intelligence inputs and forecasts to prevent any militants’ fabricated disasters.
