Tata Motors on Sunday told that their much awaited Nano car will be out in the market from its Singur facility by October this year in spite of the project was facing cost overrun.
“We have already sunk in Rs 2000 crore”’, the company’s Managing Director Mr. Ravi Kant said, adding earlier the project cost was pegged at Rs 1700 crore.
Mr. Ravi Kant, who met the West Bengal Chief Minister Mr. Buddhadev Bhattacharjee at Writer’s Buildings in Kolkata, told reporters that the entire project had been reworked at the plant site at Singur due to floods last year which had led to the cost escalation.
Mr. Ravi Kant had visited the Singur plant yesterday to review progress and discussed all the relevant issues with suppliers and vendors regarding the manufacture of the car
He sated that if everything will go according to the plans, Nano would be rolled out during Durga Puja. “We hope to start trial production during July or August and Nano will be produced out of West Bengal”, he said.
Mr. Kant had earlier stated that while the company’s focus would remain the domestic market for the first couple of years, Tata Motors was keen to take the car to Africa and Latin America as the global interest for the small car is increased meanwhile.

There is good news for the people waiting for Nano, Rs. 1 lakh car of Tata motors. Production of this car in Singur is going according to the plans of company. Test production of the car will be started from June or July and commercial production will be from October. Managing Director of the company, Ravi Kant said, “We are happy about the ongoing production work as par plans”.
Nano’s trial production will be commenced in June or July. Different segments like press shop, welding shop, assembly line, engine and paint shops are under inspection. He said that civil construction Company, Shapurjee, Tata Motors and West Bengal Govt. are assisting in the production work. He expected that the work will be completed by time conditioned that natural interruptions like rain will not disrupt the process. He told that company and other agencies are preparing action plans for the proper working of the plans.
It is known that company had exhibited their small Car Nano in Auto Show held on 10th January. Company has planned to produce 2.5 lakh car units in Singur plant of production.

Tata Nano can face strong competition before coming in market as a west Bengal company, Tara International, is ready to steal the tag of cheapest car from Tata’s Nano. It is going to launch its new car within next 4-5 months which will cost less than one Lakh. This company is going to launch the new car under the name of TINY which will cost Rs. 99,999 and above this will be battery operated. It will cost only 50-70 paisa per kilometer. As the rates of petrol and diesel is increasing day by day This car will be economical and hence will going to give strong competition to other cars in market.
Tara International is also planning to launch more cars with the name Tara Titu, Tara Micro and Tara Mini after Tiny. All will be electric cars. Chairman of the group, Tara Shankar Ganguly said that 60-70 % of parts of these cars will be imported from Chinese company. After two years it will be completely made in India, no import will be needed. Tara’s manufacturing unit is near Kolkatta in Palta. After electric cars the company will launch electric buses and two-wheelers. Company’s Vice-President, Vishwajeet Das told that two-wheeler will cost between Rs. 9,999 to 30,000 and the three wheelers will range from Rs. 85,000 to 1.8 lakh.
Tara’s Tiny will be ready to run with an average speed of 50-70 Km/Hour. It can be charged with 15 Ampere socket of 220 V. Nano’s maximum speed is 105 Km/hour and provides 20 Km Mileage in its petrol version. Tara is planning to give 1000 cars, 5000 two-wheelers and 500 buses in first year of launch. Tara is expecting to have a turnover of Rs. 15 crores in first year and Rs. 50 crores in succeeding year of the launch.
