Amitabh Vs. Shahrukh and Now Shahrukh Vs. Salman!

Hosting Television shows seems to be the rage for every Bollywood star. After Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, its turn to Bollywood superstar Salman Khan to shine on the small screen. He will host a reality show ‘Dus ka Dum-Ab India Sochega Percentage Mein” on Sony Entertainment Television starting from June 6. It is reported that Salman will receive a handsome amount of Rs 89 crores for 104 episodes.

There are far too many channels and far too many reality shows going on for now. One after another, the Bollywood top stars are coming towards hosting reality shows and enetertaining the public by their gesture and presence of mind. The fashion to lure the viewres by their charm towards reality shows started with the super hit game show Kaun Banega Crorepati(KBC) hosted by Amitabh Bachchan. After that a series of reality shows hosted by top Bollywood icons started on the small screen and this give rise to a tough competition between the stars as well as the channels.

Dus ka Dum Hosted by Salman Khan

KBC was a new concept and highly appreciated by the viewers. It is successful in over 80 countries, so India moved with some degree of advantage, Star TV having tested the waters so to speak, before its launch. It was fun with knowledge. Above all it was the first time the big star came on silver screen to interact with the public directly. Hence the show rocked. Followed by Amitabh Bachchan who initially excelled the show, sequel of the show was hosted by Shahrukh Khan. Of course, people compared the two hosts of the same game show.

Big B in KBC

Recently Shahrukh Khan’s show Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Hain? is aired on star plus getting appreciation from the public. Compared to KBC which had questions on General and day to day topics with 4 options panchvi paas is a tough nut to crack. In KBC, each correct answer moves the contestant higher up the ladder of money values which ended with Rs. 1 Crore for the last right answer. SRK’s new show is based on the international Mark Burnett format Are you Smarter than a 5th Grader‘in which grade-school level questions are put to adults. Similar ladder is their in this show. If a contestant answers all 10 questions correctly, he is given the chance to answer an 11th question which on answering correctly will get him Rupees 5 Crore.

SRK in KBC

Though shahrukh is quite sincere in his efforts but the show has low TV ratings comparitive to KBC and Salman’s new show is going to start will give a tough answer to this show. The Sony show is expected to kick off the show on an around the same time as King Khan will come on Star Plus.

Shah Rukh Khan

The biggest factor of low TRP of “Panchvi pass…” can be credited to ongoing IPL matches also. The show is aired at 8 pm, the same time when the match is stars. IPL is getting very popular in India as it is cricket mixed with entertainment. It’s tough to lure the eyeballs away from this extravaganza.

Salman is all set to host his show to give a tough competition to King Khan. ‘Dus Ka Dum’ is based on an American game show Power of 10 hosted by Drew Carey. The contestants will have to ’think’ like India. A question would be asked, the answer to which would be the average percentage of a mass opinion poll conducted across India. The correct guess of the answer in accordance with the collective opinion of India, they would start winning from a starting amount of ten thousand rupees. Answering five questions correctly would get the contestant to the magical figure of 10 crores.

Talking about Salman for his upcoming show, a source told Mumbai Mirror, “Although many people consider him rude and eccentric, Salman has often revealed the compassionate side of his personality without making a song and dance about it. Apart from the content which promises to be mind-blowing, this kind-hearted quality of Salman is what is expected to see the show through.”

The three stars are fighting for the small screen viewers. What you people think? Who will win the small screen fight? Which one would you like…? Amitabh, Shahrukh or Salman?

ICC Code of Conduct applicable to SRK too: BCCI !

In favor of ICC code of Conduct, BCCI today has said that the law is above all and even Bollywood superstar and Kolkata Knight Rider’s owner Shah Rukh Khan would have to keep out of the dug out following Code of Conduct. BCCI said that they would issue a notice hoping that all would comply in the ongoing IPL.

Earlier in the day, the Anti Corruption Unit officials had cautioned the actor about going into the dressing room and the team dug out during the IPL match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings.

Shah Rukh Khan on Sunday night expressed disappointment at the ICC Anti Corruption Unit barring him from going to the team dug out and dressing room in the remaining matches of the IPL.

However the Kolkata team director, Joy Bhattacharya, has defended the franchisee owner Shah Rukh Khan saying that the ICC Code of Conduct does not apply to the team owners and even if it does, it does not matter because Shah Rukh is their 12th man.

“I like to hang around with the boys. I am very energetic. I am very disappointed that the ICC has stopped me. I don’t know the ICC rules. I’ll tell only one thing. Nobody dare stop me from coming to Kolkata. I’ll be here whenever my team plays a match at the Eden,” said Khan.

ICC had earlier said that the dugout was exclusively for the players and the team manager. The officials of the lucrative Indian Premier League have decided to hold a meeting in order to decide the composition in the player’s dugout.

“I work hard. I want them to work harder. I would have liked the Kolkata Knight Riders to reach the final,” said the actor for his team success.

SRK said “With the help of colleagues we’ve done something for this. Still there is a long way to go before it becomes the number one sporting brand”.

Mahesh Bhatt finds Ramadoss remarks juvenile!

Noted filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt has told the comments by Union Health Minister Ramadoss as ‘juvenile’ that asks film stars to refrain from smoking and drinking in films.

Bhatt has followed superstar Amitabh Bachchan, in criticicing the minister for his comments and joined the protests by various Bollywood bigwigs against Ramadoss.

“I find his comments juvenile. People do not even have basic health facilities in villages, rural health sector is in such a mess but his concern is limited to film industry,” Bhatt says.

Recently Bachchan also sharply criticized Ramadoss suggestions that when popular film stars like Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan are seen smoking and drinking on screen it encourages youngsters to follow suit.

Many times earlier, Ramadoss commented on smoking scenes in movies and subjected to anger by film fraternity for the same.

“How can they talk of censoring people in 21st century? All you can do is to sensitize people about these things, but censor is impossible,” said Bhatt.

Bhatt is an outspoken critic of such bans in Hindi films. Known for his strong stand against censorship, Bhatt had also filed a PIL in the Delhi High Court in 2005, challenging the legislative amendments to ban smoking and drinking scenes in films and television serials.

Shahrukh excels in Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hai!

Shahrukh Khan in Kya aap Paanchvi Paas se Tez hai?Shahrukh’s much awaited reality show ’Kya aap paanchvi pass se tez hai’ has been started at 8pm on Star Plus on April 25 (Friday). Shahrukh has once again proved himself as the best by his brilliant performance as a host of the show playing the part of a school teacher and asking simple yet tough questions.

The first episode has revealed all about his charisma and wit. He was looking elegant with casual light blue shirt with a black waist coat and a pair of blue jeans. His funny strokes in between the show keep the viewers bounded at cool place.

On a funny note, he said that he always wanted to be a teacher but ended up being an actor. After he got a chance to play the role of a teacher in the movie, Mohabbatein, his wish again came true through the current show ’Kya aap paanchvi pass se tez hai’.

The show deals with simple question said to be of level 5th standard. In the show, three life saving options were also there – taal jhaank, copy and bachao. After answering 10 questions correctly, one question will be asked, ’Sawal paanch crore ka’. If that is answered correctly, the mega prize money belongs to the contestant.

The 39-year-old Vedula Ramalaxmi, a PhD in Hindi and an MA gold medalist was the first contestent. The Orrisa based lecturer did not expect the questions to be so tough, yet so simple.

After a series of questions earning 2,00,000 rupees, Ramalaxmi requested to quit and has to entitled herself a coward, a ’Bhagoda’ and also has to say, “Main paanchvi pass se tez nahi hoon (I’m not sharper than a fifth passed out).” as a rule of the show.

29-year-old Pramod Tripathi came as the second contestant but after answering the first question, the school bell rang, thus ending the show.

It must be accepted that Shahrukh is an all rounder, whether it is cricket, movies, reality shows or whatever, he has proved himself ‘the King’. Earlier he has hosted Kaun Banega Crorepati(KBC), which was firstly hosted by Big B. Shahrukh seems at ease and performed better in the current show as there is no pressure to perform better than Amitabh unlike KBC.

New sporty look for SRK’s cheerleaders!

Shahrukh Khan had decided to give a new sporty look for his pompom girls after the start of political debate regarding the presence of cheerleaders in the field. Cheerleaders of Shahrukh’s Kolkata Knight Riders will wear a new “designer” look at the next match at Eden Gardens on Tuesday.

Fashion czar Manish Malhotra is reworking on the dress for the spirited show women and they will be seen in their new attire with a colour combination of golden and black to match with the clothes of team members.

“Yes, I am reworking on the cheerleaders’ dress. I am trying to make it look sporty.” said Manish Malhotra.

When asked whether the new look will be decided on the basis of recent objections held on cheerleaders he said, “Certainly, it will be respected. I have kept this in mind while designing the clothes.”

Knight Riders franchisee Shahrukh Khan had reportedly stated, “If people feel that way we will certainly correct ourselves.”

Although Shahrukh has found nothing wrong in the glamorous dress and presence of cheerleaders for the entertainment of viewers but he decided to alter the dress code to avoid any further objections.

Maharashtra government has banned the cheerleaders telling the presence as ‘vulgar and obscene’. The dancing of semi-nude girls on fours and sixes hit by players gave rise to a controversial debate among political leaders.

Maharashtra bans cheerleaders for IPL match!

CheerleadersThe glamorous cheerleaders in short skirts and short blouses might have made their place among the film stars and the ongoing IPL cricket matches but their presence has started a moral debate among the political leaders.

The Maharashtra government said it will not allow the specially hired girls to go on with their ‘vulgar and obscene’ performance during the April 27 league match at Navi Mumbai.

The semi-nude girls entertain the viewers by dancing when players hit boundaries and six or anybody gets out without scoring. Some of the ministers have told the girls ‘worse than bar dancers’.

Minister of State for Home Siddharam Mhatre described the cheerleaders and their dancing at the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches as ‘absolutely obscene’.

“We live in India where womanhood is worshipped. How anything obscene like this cans can be allowed?” he asked.

Mhatre wondered why the organizers require ’semi- nude’ women to entertain people at cricket matches.

“The organizers may have invested crores of rupees organizing such matches. But this does not mean that they make semi-nude women dance in front of people,” he said.

Mhatre suggested organizers can use animated characters when players hit boundaries and six or anybody gets out without scoring.

Some cricketers also gave comments regarding the issue. Pakistan Cricketer Shahid Afridi said that the semi-nude girls are diverting the attention of batsmen, hence they should be banned.

On the other side, BCCI president Rajiv Shukla said that there is nothing wrong in the dancing of cheerleaders to enhance the magic of the cricket. He said that the girls dance at sixes and fours only and this is only for a little amusement.

However, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan favors the cheerleaders and he did not find anything vulgar about them.

“What’s wrong with cheerleaders? I am also a family person, I do not see anything negative in it,” the actor, who owns the Kolkata Knight Riders, said.

Shah Rukh replied to his comments and cheekily replied, “I consider it a compliment for him, oops sorry, compliment for me, that was a genuine slip of tongue. It is indeed a great compliment that he at least considers me second to him. We are very good friends and we both have a good sense of humour. So I understand his jokes and so does he. He is a great man and an intellectual, while I am more instinctive. He does more of the thinking and I do more of the acting.”

Shah Rukh was there announcing the members of his IPL Mumbai team on Thursday. He, as the owner of Kolkata cricket team, called ‘Knight Riders’, officially announced the members of his team in a press conference held in Mumbai. Meanwhile, the musical duo Vishal-Shekar has come up with a music video choreographed by Ganesh Hegde as a part of the promotions for the IPL.

Whatever the two Khans say, finally the judge can only be the public. Last decision always comes from the viewers only!
