Amitabh Bachchan remarked India as a developed country!

The Bollywood most popular super star Amitabh Bachchan remarked India as a developed country. While in a press conference promoting the latest leg of his “The Unforgettable Tour” in London Amitabh Bachchab said : India should no longer be dismissed as a “Third World” country but should henceforth be given due respect as a “developed nation”.

He made this statement replying the question - what it meant to be an Indian today and about the nature of the relationship between India and the diaspora, increasingly third or even fourth generation, scattered across the world?

Bachchan stated: “India today is a recognized force and I hope to see that India is no longer referred to as a Third World country or a developing nation – it should be referred to as a developed nation and a first (world country).”

He said: “Primarily we are very proud of our country, we are proud of our history, we are proud of our culture – it goes back thousands and thousands of years. We are proud that we fought for our independence, we are proud that we are the largest democracy in the world and we are very proud now of the way India is progressing after the economic liberalization.”

Bachchan is on world tour with his wife, Jaya, his son, Abhishek, and daughter-in-law, Aishwarya Rai. With other stars, including Preity Zinta and Riteish Deshmukh, have entertained Indian audiences in Toronto on July 18, Port of Spain in Trinidad on July 20, Los Angeles, on July 26, San Francisco on July 27, Houston on August 2, Atlantic City on August 9, Chicago on August 10, and New York on August 15. De Taali: Movie Review!

Lead actors: Riteish Deshmukh, Aftab Shivdasani, Ayesha Takia, Rimi Sen, Anupam Kher

This E. Niwas venture seemed like a Taali on my face as to why on this earth did I buy tickets to watch a movie like this. Jokes apart the movie is a time pass for those who are looking for an outing and have nothing at all to do. The movie starts with the feel of a peppy new generation, styled up romantic comedy but against all expectations as it ends up into a long stretched movie with no sense punches that somehow succeed to bring a smile on your faces. The songs and their lyrics are some of the bearable parts of the movie but seem as if they have been forced into the situations to give some breathers to the audience.

Aftab Shivdasani is a Richie rich guy sailing in his overflow of sentimental nature and keeps falling off the boat of love. His two chadhi-buddies, the tomboy Ayesha Takia and the crazy head Riteish Deshukh and Aftab himself, have been shown to own a tree house with some whacky graffiti’s and trust me; you’d never know where these people are actually living.

The first half seems bearable and pulls itself off with some one liner that are good but the later half turns into berserk situations that are irritating and stretched. Rimi Sen, the new found love interest of the rich boy after failing 30 times, who he thinks is his true love is supposedly after his money which his friends get to know. The disaster of the movie can totally be blamed on E. Srinivas because the lead actors are in the best of their acting forms especially Riteish Deshmukh who really tickles your funny bone and Aftab is also a surprise package. The girl’s characters have been written quite well and have done justice to their parts.

To conclude:

Warning: Watch it at your own risk if you are really sick of your monotonous, boring and busy life.

Not recommended for intellectual people and those with brains!

My Stars: 2.5/5
