World Friendship Day
It is said very rightly - What we can’t say to god can be shared with a friend.
Every relation on Earth is gifted with one’s birth except the magical relation ’FRIENDSHIP’. Mother, Father, sister, brother, uncle, aunty all relations are served ready made with our birth but Friendship is the only relation on Earth which we make by our own choice and likes. However, there is no need of any special day to express our feelings towards friends. They are always around us to help, to share and to celebrate but the first Sunday of August is dedicated to all those who believe in Friendship and is celebrated as the World Friendship Day.
Today, August 3, Sunday is all about Friends and Friendship. It is a very noble feeling which needs no explanation. First Sunday of August was declared as a holiday in US in honor of friends by a Proclamation made by US Congress in 1935. Since then, World Friendship Day is being celebrated every year on the first Sunday in the month of August.
The beautiful idea of celebrating the day was accepted by all those who believe in Friends and Friendship. People exchanges wishes and cards with gifts on this day to disclose how special someone is without any blood relation or any family relation. They express love for their friends and cherish their presence in life.
Being a friend is not just sharing good days with them but to provide a warm touch of your hand during their low moments, to hear their silence and to feel their affection.
Also there are lots of Bollywood movies based on friendship. The topic is cooked in many films and songs for long time. Friendship today is all about hypocrisy. It’s hard to find a real friend in today’s selfish world. Earlier, pen friend was the basic concept of making friend but today the concept is totally changed. Social sites on internet are famous among youngsters. Unknown people share a hi-bye and then forget. This is not what we can say friendship. It is the relation which needs a complete dedication and a life time attachment and concern. However, it is not needed that friends meet and talk daily.
