First DLF IPL: Rajasthan Royals got the crown!

Rajasthan Royals won the first IPL finals on Sunday at Dr. DY Patil stadium in Mumbai. The royals leaded by Shane Warne won against M S Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings by three wickets against the target of 164 set by CSK. Rajasthan were awarded a cheque of Rs. 4.8 crores.

The last over of the match was the deciding over and was really nail biting as the victory was undecided till the last delivery. Finally the trophy was over taken by the Rajasthan Royals. Yusuf Pathan from winning side with his 56 runs off 39 balls and taking three wickets emerged as the hero of the day. He is awarded the DLF maximum sixes as well as the man of the match award.

Lots of turning points in the match kept the viewers stick to their chairs. Graeme Smith, who is out with a hamstring injury, was replaced by Kamran Akmal in Rajasthan Royal team. After winning the toss, Shane Warne invited the Chennai Super Kings to bat. Stephen Fleming and Parthiv Patel gave an impressive steady start. Raina added the highest individual runs of 43 runs to the team. Dhoni remained not out with 29 runs adding to the total of 163.

Royals got his first stroke as the loss of Niraj Patel at the start of the game who made only 2 runs. Later the play swung up and the score rises. The catches dropped of Yusuf Pathan at 13 and 33 cost Chennai Super Kings a lot. The fielding aspect of Chennai Super Kings was at lowest yesterday.

Pathan hit massive sixes making the target easy for the team to hold the IPL trophy with highest individual score of 56 in the final.

Shane Warne-Sohail Tanwir partnership for the 8th wicket was also very crucial for the team.

Sohail Tanvir — the wrong-footed pacer from Pakistan, for his 22 wickets, won the purple cap while the orange cap for the highest scorer went to Shaun Marsh of Kings XI Punjab.

Australia’s Shane Watson, who played a key role in Rajasthan Royal’s title triumph, was declared as the man of the tournament with 474 runs, including four half centuries, and 17 wickets.

In spite of lots of controversies, first IPL mixed with glamour and entertainment was a grand success.

Rajasthan Royals beat Deccan Chargers by 3 wkts!

Deccan Chargers once again lost the match against Rajasthan Royals by 3 wickets in spite of Andrew Symonds fastest hundred at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Deccan chargers set a solid target of 215 to win. Symonds remain unbeaten hit the fastest hundred of the tournament scoring 117 runs of 53 balls including 7 huge sixes and 11 fours. Rohit Sharma gave his hand well to Symonds and the partnership went good. Rohit made 36 runs. However Afridi (10) and Gilchrist (13) were out soon at the start.

Rajasthan Royals replied to the huge target through Yousuf Pathan (61) Greame Smith (71) and Mohammad Kaif (34).

Finally Shane Warne helped royals to reach the target and gave an unbeaten 22 run knock in 9 balls including 2 sixes and 2 boundaries.

Although Deccan chargers have performed well in the match, Symonds gave his best to win but they have to face defeat once again. Earlier they lost the match against Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils.

Rajasthan Royals beat Kings XI Punjab by 6 wickets!

The sixth IPL match was named to Rajasthan Royals who won the match by 6 wickets against Kings XI Punjab in Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.

Punjab Kings elected to bat first scored 166 runs at lose of 8 wickets. Watson’s brilliant play helped Rajasthan Royals to reach the manageable target within 18.1 overs losing 4 wickets.

Watson scored highest of the team with 76 runs for 49 balls including 5 fours and 5 sixes. Jadeja scored 36 out of 25 including 5 fours and 1 six. Both led the team to victory doors.

Other players include Lehmann who scored 17 out of 16 balls while Akmal gave 15 runs. Pathan (7) and Kaif (5) couldn’t score much.

Royals’ captain Shane Warne (3-19) and pacer Sidharth Trivedi (2-25) were the main wicket-takers.

Despite of brilliant performance of Captain Yuvraj Singh who struck a half century and raced to 57 runs in 34 balls including six fours and three sixes, Kings XI Punjab have to face second successive lose.

Karan Goel (26) and Piyush Chawla (24) were the other contributors with the bat who led the team to set a target of 167.

Hopes gave 16 runs out of 16 balls while Sangakkara also scored 20 out of 8 balls.

Other players are dull today. Irfan Pathan’s batting added 12 more runs only while Brett Lee disappointed his fans and left the ground without opening his account.

Watson was elected Man of the Match scoring highest run of 76.
