A few dangers of cell phone towers!

Gone are the days when mobiles were a luxury. In today’s fast paced world, they have become a household commodity. They have made our lives so comfortable that we easily overlook the danger these phones or their towers pose to us and all living beings. These transmission towers are being erected in every nook and corner of the country. With more and more competition amongst the telecommunication players, more and more damage is being done without us being aware of it.

These towers emit Invisible Electro Magnetic Radiations (EMR) which can prove fatal for our health. The major health problems which are related to over exposure to EMR are:

  • Abnormal cell growth promotion
  • DNA damage
  • Reduced immune system competence
  • Sleeplessness, irritability, anxiety, depression
  • Weakened blood-brain barrier
  • Childhood and adult leukemia
  • Eye cancer
  • Infertility and miscarriage
  • Attention span deficit and general memory loss
  • Sleep disturbance and chronic fatigue
  • Brain tumors
  • Cardiac problems

It is very dangerous for pregnant ladies and their unborn babies. Sperm count in men is known to decrease by constant exposure to these radiations. Recent studies done in Europe show that tumors can be induced in rats, which were exposed to the same power levels and distances that normal cell phone users are exposed to from the phone’s antenna. These towers are a deathbed not only for human beings but also for birds. They also avoid these towers.

The tragedy is more and more towers are being installed in close proximity around us. This is subjecting us to more and more radiations every day. I had even read about some ignorant people leasing out their terraces to telecommunication companies in allurement of a lot of money. They don’t realize that ultimately the money they are earning through this would be wasted in treating their own selves against the radiations being emitted from right on top of them.

The telecom companies continue to install towers, which have a radiation power level of 7260 microwatt/m2, despite the specified level being just 600 microwatt/m2. None of the mobile companies follows the standards fixed by the international commission of non-iodized radiation.

Over exposure to these radiations can cause us our lives and it’s time we bring about this awareness in everyone around us.

Pregnant ‘man’ gives birth to a girl!

A man who was born a woman has given birth to a girl child at an Oregon hospital on June 29, Sunday. Reportedly the baby is “healthy and doing well” which was conceived through artificial insemination using donor sperm and Beatie’s own eggs.

10 years back, Thomas Beatie, 34, began his sexual transformation to become a man. He was subjected to hormone treatment and surgery to remove mammary glands for a flat chest.  But he kept his female reproductive organ and gave birth to a girl baby on June 29 as reported by People magazine on Thursday.

He had given birth naturally, not by Caesarean section. No other birth details were given by him.

“The only thing different about me is that I can’t breast-feed my baby. But a lot of mothers don’t,” People quoted Beatie as saying. He has had his breasts surgically removed.

Five years back Beatie got married to Nancy. She was unable to conceive because of a prior hysterectomy. Otherwise, he has said, “I wouldn’t be doing this.”

The couple, who operate a T-shirt printing business in Bend, Oregon, are legally married and he is recognized under Oregon state law as a man. Nancy,46,  has two grown daughters by a previous marriage.

Two years back, when Beatie decided to gave birth to a child, he halted his bimonthly hormone injections and resumed menstruating.

She said on Oprah’s show their parental roles would be fairly traditional despite his transgenders status. “He’s going to be the father, and I’m going to be the mother,” she said.
