Cold War between Big B and King Khan!

For the last few years we all have been constantly hearing stories about the cold war between Amitabh Bachchan (Big B) and Shahrukh Khan (King Khan), as to who is better amongst the two. Do you really think that it is valid to compare the talent of a senior actor with an actor who is in league of his son’s generation? While Amitabh Bachchan celebrated his 67th birthday few days back, Shahrukh Khan is 42 years of age. While Amitabh Bachchan has 128 films to his credit, Shahrukh Khan has only 49 films in his kitty. While Amitabh Bachchan has been able to experiment with varied types of roles over the span of 3 decades, Shahrukh has just started deviating from his comfortable cocoon of romanticism. If Shahrukh claims to be a competitor of Big B then he needs to correct himself first as Big B has already reached the summit of acting while King Khan has just entered the arena of mature acting.

Though the box office statistics show that King Khan is more successful with a success rate of 67.4 percent in comparison to 53 percent of Big B, we should not forget the difference in the experience level of both the actors.

Apoorv Phalle, a student from Pune says, “Shah Rukh has been very good with all his romantic roles, but he has a long way ahead of him to be near to Big B, who has already reached the summit, where no one can reach. Of late Shah Rukh has often been seen following Big B’s footsteps in the entertainment world after doing Farhan Akhtar’s Don, which was a flop.”

Saurabh Shirsath studying in FTI (Film Television Institute) says, “Shah Rukh has made a mockery of himself by comparing himself with Amitabh Bachchan, its too childish of him to do remakes of his films and doing shows like KBC. All these are making him earn a bad name; an actor of his class deserves to stand distinctly and should not fight to reach the summit, which Amitabh has already reached.”

In my opinion they both are fine actors in their own leagues and they should simply continue to entertain us with their tremendous talent. All this hype of there being a cold war between the two actors is media created. Gossip hungry media has never spared any celebrity so how can these two be left behind?

ICC Code of Conduct applicable to SRK too: BCCI !

In favor of ICC code of Conduct, BCCI today has said that the law is above all and even Bollywood superstar and Kolkata Knight Rider’s owner Shah Rukh Khan would have to keep out of the dug out following Code of Conduct. BCCI said that they would issue a notice hoping that all would comply in the ongoing IPL.

Earlier in the day, the Anti Corruption Unit officials had cautioned the actor about going into the dressing room and the team dug out during the IPL match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings.

Shah Rukh Khan on Sunday night expressed disappointment at the ICC Anti Corruption Unit barring him from going to the team dug out and dressing room in the remaining matches of the IPL.

However the Kolkata team director, Joy Bhattacharya, has defended the franchisee owner Shah Rukh Khan saying that the ICC Code of Conduct does not apply to the team owners and even if it does, it does not matter because Shah Rukh is their 12th man.

“I like to hang around with the boys. I am very energetic. I am very disappointed that the ICC has stopped me. I don’t know the ICC rules. I’ll tell only one thing. Nobody dare stop me from coming to Kolkata. I’ll be here whenever my team plays a match at the Eden,” said Khan.

ICC had earlier said that the dugout was exclusively for the players and the team manager. The officials of the lucrative Indian Premier League have decided to hold a meeting in order to decide the composition in the player’s dugout.

“I work hard. I want them to work harder. I would have liked the Kolkata Knight Riders to reach the final,” said the actor for his team success.

SRK said “With the help of colleagues we’ve done something for this. Still there is a long way to go before it becomes the number one sporting brand”.

Shahrukh excels in Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hai!

Shahrukh Khan in Kya aap Paanchvi Paas se Tez hai?Shahrukh’s much awaited reality show ’Kya aap paanchvi pass se tez hai’ has been started at 8pm on Star Plus on April 25 (Friday). Shahrukh has once again proved himself as the best by his brilliant performance as a host of the show playing the part of a school teacher and asking simple yet tough questions.

The first episode has revealed all about his charisma and wit. He was looking elegant with casual light blue shirt with a black waist coat and a pair of blue jeans. His funny strokes in between the show keep the viewers bounded at cool place.

On a funny note, he said that he always wanted to be a teacher but ended up being an actor. After he got a chance to play the role of a teacher in the movie, Mohabbatein, his wish again came true through the current show ’Kya aap paanchvi pass se tez hai’.

The show deals with simple question said to be of level 5th standard. In the show, three life saving options were also there – taal jhaank, copy and bachao. After answering 10 questions correctly, one question will be asked, ’Sawal paanch crore ka’. If that is answered correctly, the mega prize money belongs to the contestant.

The 39-year-old Vedula Ramalaxmi, a PhD in Hindi and an MA gold medalist was the first contestent. The Orrisa based lecturer did not expect the questions to be so tough, yet so simple.

After a series of questions earning 2,00,000 rupees, Ramalaxmi requested to quit and has to entitled herself a coward, a ’Bhagoda’ and also has to say, “Main paanchvi pass se tez nahi hoon (I’m not sharper than a fifth passed out).” as a rule of the show.

29-year-old Pramod Tripathi came as the second contestant but after answering the first question, the school bell rang, thus ending the show.

It must be accepted that Shahrukh is an all rounder, whether it is cricket, movies, reality shows or whatever, he has proved himself ‘the King’. Earlier he has hosted Kaun Banega Crorepati(KBC), which was firstly hosted by Big B. Shahrukh seems at ease and performed better in the current show as there is no pressure to perform better than Amitabh unlike KBC.

Maharashtra bans cheerleaders for IPL match!

CheerleadersThe glamorous cheerleaders in short skirts and short blouses might have made their place among the film stars and the ongoing IPL cricket matches but their presence has started a moral debate among the political leaders.

The Maharashtra government said it will not allow the specially hired girls to go on with their ‘vulgar and obscene’ performance during the April 27 league match at Navi Mumbai.

The semi-nude girls entertain the viewers by dancing when players hit boundaries and six or anybody gets out without scoring. Some of the ministers have told the girls ‘worse than bar dancers’.

Minister of State for Home Siddharam Mhatre described the cheerleaders and their dancing at the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches as ‘absolutely obscene’.

“We live in India where womanhood is worshipped. How anything obscene like this cans can be allowed?” he asked.

Mhatre wondered why the organizers require ’semi- nude’ women to entertain people at cricket matches.

“The organizers may have invested crores of rupees organizing such matches. But this does not mean that they make semi-nude women dance in front of people,” he said.

Mhatre suggested organizers can use animated characters when players hit boundaries and six or anybody gets out without scoring.

Some cricketers also gave comments regarding the issue. Pakistan Cricketer Shahid Afridi said that the semi-nude girls are diverting the attention of batsmen, hence they should be banned.

On the other side, BCCI president Rajiv Shukla said that there is nothing wrong in the dancing of cheerleaders to enhance the magic of the cricket. He said that the girls dance at sixes and fours only and this is only for a little amusement.

However, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan favors the cheerleaders and he did not find anything vulgar about them.

“What’s wrong with cheerleaders? I am also a family person, I do not see anything negative in it,” the actor, who owns the Kolkata Knight Riders, said.

Ramadoss target Buddhadeb against smoking!

Union Health MinisterBengal Marxist Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee is now the new target for the Union Health Minister Ambumani Ramadoss. After King Khan Ramadoss has trained his gun on Buddhadeb against his smoke puffs.

Buddhadeb being a leader should be an example for others. His behaviour should be ideal and should be worthy to be followed by others. Ramadoss said that he is a senior person and doesn’t need his advice.

Bhattacharjee is known to smoke in privacy of his chamber in spite of a ban in the Writer’s Building. As the chief minister was the prime offender there is no strictness on the rule. Though smoke detectors worth lakhs of rupees have been installed in all the chambers of ministers and bureaucrats but perhaps they are not working or not been activated. There seems no law for the ministers. Ironically, the chief minister has company in the Health minister Dr. Suryakanto Mishra and a number of others Left Front ministers who are also finding it difficult to kick the habit.

A nationwide survey on tobacco consumption reveals almost three-fourths of all Bengalis are hooked to the cancer stick. On this Ramadoss had to say, “Seventy per cent of men in West Bengal people take to tobacco, including the chief minister.” He also pointed out the northeastern states have the highest number of smokers in the country.

Bhattacharjee lighting up at the drop of a hat has been in the news for a long time. It surfaced in the nineties when a nettled West Bengal Finance minister Dr Asim Dasgupta upped and slapped a constable on duty on the Writers Building corridor for smoking. He proposed an enactment of a ban on smoking the corridors of the secretariat and public places. Bhattacharjee, then Home minister, and a batch mate of the finance minister told his cabinet colleague to turn a blind eye to his chamber.

Now the PWD Minister Kshiti Goswami has upped the ante and put up notices on the corridors of Writers’ Building, which reads, “Smoking and spitting on the corridors are strictly prohibited.”
