Wish the Best of Luck in Your Own Style to Team India!

Hey friends, I am creating this post for you people to wish a warm Best of Luck to the Team India. As you all are aware that 12 cricket playing nations India, Bangladesh, Ireland, Pakistan, England, Netherlands, Australia, Sri Lanka, West Indies, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sctland are going to fight for the World Cup in the Twenty 20 cricket format which is beginning today at England.

As you all are aware that Team India is the defending champions and other 11 countries are going to challenge them for the trophy. India is placed along with Bangladesh and Ireland in the Group A, while Pakistan, England and Netherlands are placed together in Group B. The most toughest group of the tournament is the Group C which contains Australia, Sri Lanka and West Indies, while the Group D is containing New Zealand, South Africa and Scotland.

At the moment Team India is looking highly capable of retaining the Title. The team at the moment is a bunch of some highly talented youngsters along with some multi talented guys and captained by the Mr. Cool M. S. Dhoni. If you look at the top order then dashing opener Virender Sehwag is there with much talented Gautam Gambhir. This opening pair is the best of all the teams which are playing there. If you give an eye on the middle order then you can truly find India as the World Champions. Middle order of team India is having the firepower in the form of the King of Six Yuvraj Singh, most attacking batsman Suresh Raina, very dependable Rohit Sharma and the skipper himself. Along with them the team has the superb all rounders like Yusuf Pathan, Ravindra Jadeja and Irfan Pathan. Now if you see the bowling attack then it too have the balance which is very much required for a World Champions team, the seam attack department is there in the hand of Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, highest wicket taker in the IPL 2009 Rudra Pratap Singh and much reliable Praveen Kumar, and then the spin attack is there in the hand of Harbhajan Singh and Pragyan Ojha. Remember the team has two batsman who can bowl brilliantly at crucial time, I am talking about Yuvraj Singh and Rohit Sharma, Both has shown their talents in the IPL 2009 by taking the hat-trick in the tournament. Yuvraj Singh took 2 hat-tricks while Rohit Sharma took 1. Now if your team is having these type of players how can you assume them not to retain the trophy. Only thing which can damage the performance of the team India is the overconfidence, which they will have to take care of.

So friends, here is the space where you can wish the best of luck to your favorite Team India especially in your own style. You can post the comment here and this will show them how much you love them and how much you care about the world champions.

Nothing went in the favor of the Indian Team and they failed to capitalize the superb start given by Virender Sehwag. Team India first lost the toss and forced to bat on the moisture pitch. Although Indian skipper Dhoni insisted that he was looking for batting first, because it was the strength of the Indian team.

So India started the innings with Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir. They two provided the superb start for the team. Sehwag hit 3 sixes in three consecutive balls which he faced. They scored 19 runs in the very first over, which was a record for any team in Twenty 20 Internationals. But suddenly Team India lost the wicket of Gauti at the last ball of second over. It was a blow to the Indian team by O’Brian.

Raina joined the ground with Sehwag, and we thought that this pair will build up a bit of partnership, but O’Brian provided the much awaited break through to the Kiwis, in the form of the wicket of Virender Sehwag. He dismissed Sehwag in the very first ball of the fourth over. Then in the sixth over Rohit Sharma departs in the ball of Butler. Following them Yuvraj and skipper Dhoni the two powerful striker of Indian team fell cheaply and this brought Team India to a total of 61 for the loss of 5 wickets in 7.5 Overs.

After them it was Yusuf Pathan who hit 3 consecutive six in the ball of McCullam but Oram took his brilliant catch at the boundaries and this caused the sixth wicket fell of India. Irfan Pathan too fell cheaply while the score was 101 in 13.3 over’s.

It was the turn of Bhajji and Raina then and they brought India to a respectable total of 162 for the loss of 8 wickets. Harbhajan Singh became out on the last ball of the inning.

Kiwis too started badly and only 2 runs was scored by them in the very first over of Zaheer, in which there was one wide too. Then in the first ball of the second over Ishant Sharma dismissed Ryder, the dangerous opener of New Zealand. Thus Kiwis score reached to 2 runs for the loss of one wicket.

Guptill was the man who bring India to the back foot and he made a quick 41 runs in just 28 balls, he hit 4 boundaries and 3 six. He fell at the score of 56 in 6.4 over’s. He was dismissed by Bhajji in his very first over. After this Taylor made a fantastic 31 runs in 28 balls, in which he made one boundary and 3 six. He fell at the score of 106, in 13.2 over’s. It was the last moment of joy for the team India. Taylor was dismissed by Zaheer Khan, the main strike bowler of Team India. He did the splendid job but then he was not able to take any more wickets.

Finally it was McCullam and Oram who wrapped up the match with 7 balls left. Kiwis defeated the World Champions by 7 wickets but still Team India has a chance to level the series, the second match is scheduled on 27th February.

The Saturday evening and the Sunday morning brought some good news to India, which brought smile to many faces of the nation. These news are related to sports world, though these are proving the increasing power of India. Here are those:

India is shining in Hockey: India started the campaign in Punjab Gold Cup with a victory over New Zealand with a margin of 2-0. In Chandigarh Punjab Gold Cup is going on in between four countries India, New Zealand, Holland, and Germany. Yesterday India defeated New Zealand with the help of the goals by Sandeep Singh and Shivender Singh.

Yuvraj Singh and Ishant Sharma provided 2-0 lead in Sri Lanka: With the help of the powerful performances by Yuvi and Ishant Sharma Team India defeated Sri Lanka in the second ODI Yesterday, which gave them a 2-0 lead in the series. It was the unfortunate decision which costs the wicket of Yuvi otherwise he was looking to build a century against Lankan who were already lost the first ODI against India. Later on Kandambi fight till the last over but that was not sufficient for them.

Yuki Bhambri provided the Grand Slam taste to India: This is really big news, first time a grand slam award to India that too in singles category. Although it is in junior category only but this little Yuvraj of Indian tennis has proved his potential and he has a huge aspect in the coming days.

Sania Mirza and Mahesh Bhupathi won Australian Opens Mixed Double Final: The Sunday morning came with huge news of Sania and Bhupathi winning the Australian Open Mixed Doubles title. They defeated Nathalie Dechy (from France) and Andy Ram (from Israel) in Melbourne by 6-3 and 6-1. This is the maiden Grand Slam title for the tennis sensation of India Sania Mirza, although this is the seventh title of Mahesh Bhupathi.

Thus a few good starts at the beginning of the year is clearly indicating that India is going to rule in the year 2009.

India will Play First One Day International after two months!

If you’re new here, and interested in the latest news and insights on news from India and world, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed. Thanks for visiting I News India.

Team India is visiting Sri Lanka for a short tour of five One Day Internationals and a Twenty Twenty match. They are scheduled to play the first ODI against Lanka in Dambulla on 28th January 2009. The match is scheduled at 10 AM local time.

Team India is playing limited over cricket match after a gap of around two months. It was the 26th November 2008, when India were playing against England team, and the same time a few terrorists attacked in Mumbai, thus England team returned back to the England without playing the last two One Day Internationals.

Though, in that series India defeated England by a margin of 5-0. Before that India defeated Sri Lanka in Lanka by a margin of 3-2.

On the other hand, Sri Lanka recently played in Bangladesh and then in Pakistan, and only lost the first match against Pakistan. Other than that match they won the 6 matches.

So the two team are almost equivalent and both the skippers are considering it as the toughest series. With the strong batting line up like Sachin, Sehwag, Gambhir, Yuvraj, and Dhoni Team India is looking a bit stronger than Lankan team, on the other hand with M factors and with the absence of Harbhajan Singh Sri Lankan team is looking much stroger from the bowling point of view.

Both Mendis and Murali are running on a superb form and the absence of the senior off-spinner Bhajji Team India is looking a bit weak. Although, Sehwag and Gambhir has said that they are ready to face Mendis this time and they will perform well against them. One thing is sure that this series is going to create some excitement.

7 lime lights of the second cricket test between India and Australia!

If you’re new here, and interested in the latest news and insights on news from India and world, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed. Thanks for visiting I News India.

As we all know that Team India won in the second cricket test match in Border-Gavaskar trophy. They defeated Australia the number 1 team in test cricket by a huge margin of 320 runs. We are here by preparing a list of seven lime lights of the test match.

  1. 12K runs by Sachin: The master blaster of Indian cricket, Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar made 88 runs in the first inning of India and he became the highest run getter in the history of test cricket. Also check the 10 glorifying moments of his career! He crossed the land mark made by Brian Lara of West Indies. At the end of the match he has more than 12,000 runs in his bag.
  2. Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar and Saurav Ganguly

Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar and Saurav Ganguly

  3. 7K runs by Ganguly: He was once considered as the best captain of India. A bit of politics in cricket and Greig Chappel caused him his place in the team. Finally he get the place in the team but became so frustrated that he decided to quit the cricket after this series. And in this series his bat is talking with all those people who were criticizing him earlier. He made a superb century in the first inning and due to that he made more than 7000 runs in test cricket. It was not a small feet, but still he decided not to revert back his decision of quitting cricket. I News India salutes the “Dada”, we always supported him during his bad phase too.
  4. Maya of Dhoni and a different Bhajji

Maya of Dhoni and a different Bhajji

  5. Maya of Dhoni: He is the guy who has changed the form of Indian cricket, he brought it from the aged person to the younger ones. Under his captaincy India won the T 20 world cup one year back and after that whichever match he captained gave India something to cheer about. He is a bit lucky too, considered by a huge section in India. We still remember the match against South Africa in this year, in which he got the captaincy due to the sickness of the regular skipper Anil Kumble and India won that match. Even today India won the match in which he was the captain. This is the Maya of Dhoni. The two attacking half centuries are superb and those gave him the Man of the Match.
  6. The best Indian opening pair of Viru and Gauti

The best Indian opening pair of Viru and Gauti

  7. Opening pair of India: Viru and Gauti, the opening pair of India is these days considered as the best ever opening pair for India. These two have played lots of cricket together and they love to play together. In One Days too they are being considered as the best and now in test too. The 182 runs stand between these two in the second inning of this test was really brilliant, while the pitch was offering help to the bowlers. Sehwag though failed to convert 90 into 100, but Gambhir get the second test century of his life.
  8. Superb Ishant Sharma

    Superb Ishant Sharma

  9. Superb Ishant Sharma: This school guy has troubled one of the best batsman of the world, Rickey Ponting. He made the hat-trick of dismissing him in test cricket. He is doing the same thing which Bhajji did in the previous tours of Australia in India. Since his debut in the national team from the January of this year he is continuously creating problem for Rickey Ponting. During this match he dismissed Ponting in both the innings and that caused problem to Aussies, while they are also facing the failure of Mathew Hayden in the series.
  10. A different looking Bhajji: We still remember the slap controversy in IPL 2008. That incident has changed our main bowler Harbhajan Singh. He is looking more polite and attacking on the field after that. Yesterday he dismissed the top three batsman on Aussies and that caused them the match. He was not so much successful in the drawn first test match, while he devastated the Aussies second inning. The fall of the batsman like Hayden, Katich and Hussey caused them the match. Now he is one short to the 300 test wickets.
  11. Amit Mishra a good beginning

    Amit Mishra a good beginning

  12. Amazing Amit Mishra: He was not in news before this match and he performed brilliantly in the match. He took 5 wickets in the very first inning of his life and that is also against the number 1 team of world. That was superb, and awesome. Indian team management will have to face a bit more problem now in choosing the playing 11. Whom will they remove, Kumble, Mishra or Bhajji?

It was a team effort and other than these guys Zaheer Khan too did well, along with good contribution from all the players of the team, especially Rahul Dravid. So overall it was a all OK match for team India and now they are looking ahead to defeat Aussies in the series. Best of luck to team India. We would be happy to see the comments of our readers on this match. Also you can take a look at the Cricket Updates for the match reports.

A word of advice to Ishant from Bedi!

India’s new pace sensation Ishant Sharma suddenly came into lime light while Australian tour by his wonderful performance but the former skipper Bishan Singh Bedi adviced him to be careful. Bedi said that India was not only producing fast bowlers with regularity, but also losing them with equal frequency.

“There were bowlers like Ashish Nehra, (Laxmipathy) Balaji, (Tinu) Yohanan who did well in the past. But where are they now? Ishant has to be careful and should last a little longer,” Bedi said.

Bedi said that to keeping himself fit for Ishant will be like a challenge in today’s hectic international cricket calendar. He put the example of Kapil Dev and advised the players to follow him. Only then can Ishant represent India for a longer period.

Bedi praised the young team performance in Australia but asked them to be humble and learn from their seniors.

“We have world’s greatest batsman in Sachin Tendulkar who is also world’s most humble sportsperson. Has he ever misbehaved? Our youngsters refuse to toe his line, and that to me is decrying cricket. Cricket is still a gentleman’s game.”

Australia tour: turning point of Ishant’s life!

Ishant SharmaIndian team got a new sensational paceman during Australia tour in the form of Ishant Sharma. This 19 year old young blood has lots of courage and guts to snatch wickets. Ishant consistently bowled around the 140 kmph and also sometimes touched close to 150 kmph.

He had shown his caliber openly in the Australian tour. He is the one who emerged as India’s highest wicket-taker with 14 scalps from nine matches in the tri-series. Ishant stated the tour as a turning point in his life. The tour had totally changed his life and people praised a lot of the spell he bowled.

Ishant said, “The nine overs during which I bowled Ponting out are very important for me. That was the turning point of my life. This tour was very crucial for me. It has changed my whole life”.

With his marvelous performance he suddenly came into limelight during the tour. The great Australain batsman Rickey Ponting said,”Ishant was the standout player” while Steve Waugh stated him as “next best thing in Indian cricket”. He is getting words of praise from every side.

Ishant said that all the words put a positive effect on him. He is excited for his success and for being noticeable by everyone. He is motivated by the words from great batsman like Ponting and Steve. He said that he is not trying to be in the league of speedsters like Australia’s Brett Lee and Shoaib Akhtar of Pakistan in terms of pace.

He seems very confident and said that he is doing well presently. He also said that he would not restrict himself to any one format of the game to prevent injuries.

“If I’m struggling to find place in the team I am not going to be disheartened by that because I would know that if someone is selected ahead of me he is doing a better job,” he said.

For the controversies during the tour he said that main focus was to win the game. They were more concerned with cricket than media and papers. Center of all the controversies Harbhajan, is not a guy who can say anything offensive, he added.

As a captain, Kumble was calm and patient but that was what the requirement in the Test while Dhoni is aggressive which is the need of limited-overs’ games, Stated Ishant.

“But one thing is common in them — they both ask us to do normal things,” he added.

Ishant confidently said that the tour is crucial for him and he learned ‘to be brave’ during the game without bothering about the opponent.
