Deccan Chargers Won the Second Version of DLF IPL!
Indian Premiere League 2009 is over now, and I am really surprised to see the winner of this tournament. Not only I but many others are also feeling in the same way. No one ever assumed that a team which went for the last place during the last year will become the champions this time.
The credit should be given to the skipper of the Deccan Chargers Adam Gilhcrist. He lead the site upfront from the very beginning and he got the support from his team members especially like Rohit Sharma, Pragyan Ojha, Gibbs and finally he hold the championship.
The tournament at the initial level was very much exciting and till the very last league match it was not sure that which team is going to meet for the semi final matches. If you see the Points Table of the DLF IPL 2009 then you will see that Delhi Daredevils is at the top of the table with 20 points in 14 matches.
On the other hand Chennai Super Kings were at the second position. While the position three and four was decided after the last league match of the tournament, and the most surprising thing is that the number four team defeated the number three team in the finals and thus became the champions.
If you calculate the total points after the finals then you can see that Deccan Chargers who played 16 matches and got only 18 points is the champion of the tournament while Delhi Daredevils with 20 points in 15 matches are not the champions. How will the organizers define this?
Any ways, it the system of the tournament which actually works in the manner that the team which will perform good in the last two matches i.e. the semi final and the final will become the champions. So we should not think about the positioning of the teams in the points table.
Batting first after losing the toss, Deccan Chargers was schoked by the Jumbo. In the very first over he dismissed the danger man and the player of the tournament Adam Gilchrist. After the fall of Gilly other plyers like Suman, Symonds and Rohit Sharma along with Gibbs restored the innings of the Deccan Chargers and finally they manage to make 143 runs. A target of 144 was looking easier for Royal Challengers Bangalore and the way in which Van Der Merwe and Taylor were batting it was looking easily achievable, but they fell short of a few runs.
The main reason behind the loss of match for Royal Challengers Bangalore was the lack of the good partnership. No one even tried to stay for a few minutes on the creaze. Thus Deccan Chargers became the winner of the Indian Premiere League 2009.
Congratulations to all the members associated with the Decccan Chargers.
