Shatrughan Sinha’s reply to Amitabh Bachchan!

Shatrughan SinhaWith the start of a new blog of Super star Amitabh Bachchan, a hot debate between him and Shatrughan Sinha is started. (Also see Amitabh targets Shatrughan Sinha in his blog!)

Replying to the recent statements of Big B regarding the IIFA awards in his blog, Shatrughan said, “I don’t know why Bachchan is taking these things personally.”

Recently Sinha has said that the nominations list of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards was fixed and Amitabh talk about it in his blog taking this comment on him.

While talking to a channel Sinha said, “I am not talking about fixing of IIFA awards only but I am saying about every award.”

He blamed that there is no fairness in any award because it is emphasized to any particular person or organization or politics.

Sinha said that it is conflict of interest because Amitabh is brand Ambassador of IIFA. Hence it is natural that he will favor IIFA awards.

Amitabh said that IIFA awards are based on voting and computerization.

Replying to this statement Sinha said,” Amitabh is bigger than me in film industry and he knows the truth. I am in film industry for last 35 years and I don’t have to tell how the awards are given.”

He also questioned that Aamir Khan’s movie ‘Taare Zameen Par’ is highly appreciated by the public but why it was not nominated for awards? It is done to benefit some special persons. Sinha tells Big B’s comment unimportant.

Sinah said, “Amitabh is my good friend and I have done many hit films with him. But I couldn’t understand Amitabh’s rage. I didn’t specify any name. I only said that IIFA awards are only the function of a Bollywood family. Bollywood includes Khan family, Kapoor and Roshan family too but how Amitabh thought that I am talking about his family.”

However Amitabh said, “I believe that these types of gossips are trying to make the public think that there is some fixing in IIFA awards. There is only one family which is pointed for this and it is not hard to guess it.”

IIFA will be held in Bangkok this year from June 6-8.

Maharashtra bans cheerleaders for IPL match!

CheerleadersThe glamorous cheerleaders in short skirts and short blouses might have made their place among the film stars and the ongoing IPL cricket matches but their presence has started a moral debate among the political leaders.

The Maharashtra government said it will not allow the specially hired girls to go on with their ‘vulgar and obscene’ performance during the April 27 league match at Navi Mumbai.

The semi-nude girls entertain the viewers by dancing when players hit boundaries and six or anybody gets out without scoring. Some of the ministers have told the girls ‘worse than bar dancers’.

Minister of State for Home Siddharam Mhatre described the cheerleaders and their dancing at the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches as ‘absolutely obscene’.

“We live in India where womanhood is worshipped. How anything obscene like this cans can be allowed?” he asked.

Mhatre wondered why the organizers require ’semi- nude’ women to entertain people at cricket matches.

“The organizers may have invested crores of rupees organizing such matches. But this does not mean that they make semi-nude women dance in front of people,” he said.

Mhatre suggested organizers can use animated characters when players hit boundaries and six or anybody gets out without scoring.

Some cricketers also gave comments regarding the issue. Pakistan Cricketer Shahid Afridi said that the semi-nude girls are diverting the attention of batsmen, hence they should be banned.

On the other side, BCCI president Rajiv Shukla said that there is nothing wrong in the dancing of cheerleaders to enhance the magic of the cricket. He said that the girls dance at sixes and fours only and this is only for a little amusement.

However, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan favors the cheerleaders and he did not find anything vulgar about them.

“What’s wrong with cheerleaders? I am also a family person, I do not see anything negative in it,” the actor, who owns the Kolkata Knight Riders, said.

Amitabh embarrassed of being an icon!

Big BAmitabh Bachchan found to be embarrassed being listed in the top 20 Indian iconic people. Film critic and columnist, Anil Dharkar’s latest book titled ‘Icons: Men & Women who shaped Today’s India,’ included the superstar as a legend of Hindi cinema.

The book unfolds the charisma, exceptional destinies, talents and achievements of 20 men and women who continue to shape today’s India in their respective fields.

Other names in Dharkar’s book includes former president, APJ Abdul Kalam; economist and winner of 1998 Nobel Prize, Amartya Sen; master blaster, Sachin Tendulkar; famous painter, MF Hussain; Charles Correa and Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, etc.

Big B’s name in the list directly proves him to be a legend in the Indian cinema but the star is not comfortable with this achievement.

Dharkar added that Bachchan had set up a milestone in Indian cinema and he was actively working towards the social responsibility as a good human being.

The book was launched on March 12 at the hotel InterContinental The Grand in Delhi where Amitabh said that he was not comfortable to be listed in the book and feel embarrassed.

Amitabh said, “I find it embarrassing to be one of the 20 icons. I shouldn’t be there.”

Bachchan highlighted some relevant points about democracy, the state of affairs in the country and the media’s role in modern India. “Our journalists are our gatekeepers, interpreters and messengers in a democratic, secular society. Our faith in them must be complete,” he asserted.

On the other hand Dharkar dismissed the remarks saying “Amitabh Bachchan is just being modest. Humbleness is a vital part of your life, which comes from knowing that you have achieved a lot but there is so much more to pull off. And the icons are absolutely aware of that.”

Dharkar said “The book will give you a sense of our country and where it is headed.”

Learn music from A R Rahman!

A R RahmanThe famous musician A R Rahman has launched the first music conservatory in India on March 12 in the presence of highly acclaimed musicians from all over the world. The music school is named as K M Music Conservatory. It is a good initiative from his side to make music the universal language!

He said this Music conservatory is his way of giving back to music what he got everything from the same. “The more you give, the more you get.” he said.

“There are 1.4 billion people in India and thousands of musicians but there is no symphony orchestra with our very own musicians while even smaller countries have their own orchestra. So, the reason to start the KM Conservatory is simple. Most of the young aspiring musicians want to learn more of electronic stuff. Acoustic instruments are of no interest to them. We want to start a course where students learn acoustic instruments as well as electronic instruments. It is important to raise awareness about different kinds of music,” he added.

The Hindustani classical musicians Padmabhushan Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan and his son Mustafa Khan will be teaching Hindustani classical music to the students at the Conservatory. Khan appreciated the step of rehman and said, “I congratulate Rahman for starting a music school of international standards in India. We are always with him.”

The KM Conservatory, in collaboration with Audio Media Education, an Apple authorized training centre, will concentrate on both Indian and western instrumental and vocal music technology.

Initially courses will be offered in music technology, voice, strings and keyboards. These are divided into Preparatory, Foundation and Diploma courses. The Preparatory course is open to any student from any age group with interest in music while the Foundation and Diploma courses are more advanced. In fact, the Diploma course is a two year program.

Padmabhushan Dr L Subramaniam who is in the advisory board said, “This music school is one of the best things that can happen in India. It is a great venture. When we grew up, we didn’t have this kind of an opportunity. Here, musicians from different parts of the world will come and take classes for the students. The approach to music is holistic.”

Dr Randy Giles, who will advise on the academic curriculum said, “This is a very new idea in India. Indian musicians will benefit a lot from the school. The future of the school is one in which music is seen as a discipline just as any other, with the potential to be a professional career.”
