Usefulness of Mobile in Teenagers!
Sep 11, 2008 Technology
Teenage is that phase of a person’s life which is the most troublesome, not for the teenage kid but for his parents! We all know it is so tough to handle teenagers, especially in the modern age where their demands are ever increasing.
Peer pressure and competition has fueled their demands even more. In the race of staying ahead teenagers are not teenagers any more, they want to be treated like grown ups and how! These days since most of the kids are tech-savvy, they want latest gizmos too. And one gizmo that is right up on their priority list is that latest mobile phone which is better than their friend’s. And the parents of these kids are definitely is a fix, as to whether buy them a mobile phone or not.
What parents feel: Seeing the recent MMS cases of school kids the parents certainly feel that getting their young one a mobile phone is going to spoil them. But the teenagers feel that having a mobile phone in today’s age is a must. Some parents do feel that mobile phones are essential for kids, as they can stay connected all the time. In today’s time the parents themselves are so busy that they can’t be with their children 24X7. So in such a situation a mobile phone is a useful gadget to know what their kids are doing and to keep a check on them. But what is to be done when the mobile which helps them to stay connected with their kids itself is spoiling their kids? The features like video recording, camera, Bluetooth, and MMS can be easily misused by the kids. That is what holds back a parent from buying a mobile phone to his kid. Also, a mobile phone doesn’t connect a child to his parents, but also to his friends. So most kids end up chatting with their friends all the time. There have recent cases where students have been caught using mobile phones in the schools. Such usage of mobile phone certainly hampers their education and studies. But obviously a mobile phone is useful for the kids if it’s used properly.
What teenagers feel: Young teenagers have another story to tell. For them mobile phone is something which is part of their life and they can’t do without it. It helps them stay connected to the global world which is very important in today’s competitive world. When parents themselves want their kids to be ahead in every field then why not to buy them a mobile phone when their friends have one. It is so demoralizing for a child when his friend is flashing his latest phone and the child doesn’t have one of his own. It makes the child feel discouraged and low on self esteem.
Use of mobile phones for teenagers: This is a communication age and a mobile phone is the ultimate tool for communication. With mobile phones having new and enhanced features like internet and blogging, it gives a child to express and display his creativity too. Also they want mobile phones have their own private space. Also teenage is such an age when a child trusts and shares with his friends than his family. So obviously they need the mobile phone to talk to their friends whenever they want to, whether at midnight or early morning. Apart from all this mobiles these days have various features like radio, video recording, and mp3 players which are entertainment sources for teenagers. So whenever they are getting bored they have their entertainment in their hands if they have a mobile phone.
To do or not to do: Well, having a mobile phone for teenagers is not that bad idea after all. But see to it your child is not misusing it. It’s very important for the teenagers to understand themselves that having a mobile phone is utility, not facility. They have to understand that teenage is such a naïve phase of life and they should not take such a step which can ruin their future. Also parents can keep a check to give their teenaged kids such phones which do not have features like camera and video recording, so that the phone can’t be misused by them.

4 Ways to Improve Communication Skill!
Sep 8, 2008 Lifestyle
I still remember the state of my mind very vividly, when I had stepped onto the podium of my school auditorium to present my science paper for the first time. I was very nervous when I saw a swarm of people in front of me. Hundreds of eyes were focused on me and I could not decide which way to look to avoid them.
I wanted to run away and hide myself. But nothing could be done then. My name had already been announced and the stage has been cleared for me. Then my mother’s voice rang in my ears. I thank her for knowing me so well, for she had already given me the ‘brahmastra’ to win that battle.
Before going to school that day, my mother had prepared a good breakfast for me as she advised me not to go for any important meeting, interview or exam, empty stomach. She said it just increased anxiety.
On the other hand if your stomach is full, you feel more calm and relaxed. Then she made me take blessings from almighty because he was the only one who would be there with me on the stage. Then she sat me down and told me the following rules to develop good communication skills.
- Be confident: If you are sure of yourself, then half the battle is already won. Be confident that you have adequate knowledge on the topic you are going to address and nothing would go wrong because if your information on the topic is correct then no one can counter it or negate it. Your gait, your body posture, your expressions, your style of talking; everything reflects your confidence level. It can easily let the other person sneak into your thoughts and gauge your knowledge.
- Relax: Remember that the person you are talking to is a person like you. He may be as nervous as you are. You have to relax yourself first to let the other person relax in your presence. If you keep feeling anxious, you will never be able to break the ice and carry the conversation forward. The other person will certainly appreciate your initiation of relaxing. You may bring out the best in the other person when you calm down.
- Don’t beat around the bush: When you start a conversation with an unknown person, focus on the main topic first. The person you are talking to does not have any idea of who you are or what your likes and dislikes are. He only knows you because of the work you are about to discuss with him. So save the personal information like hobbies, background etc for later, when you both are more comfortable with each other. This will help you make things more predictable and less nerve wrecking. When you make your conversation predictable, you can start making constructs and strategies on how to handle the conversation. When you have an idea on how to handle something, your nerves are managed better.
- Do not lie: The worse communicator is the one who lies or makes up stories to prove his point. If you are nervous and you lie, things get compounded. Not only do you look silly in front of the other person, you also lose his faith and your integrity. The other person would lose all interest in talking to you if he gets the slightest hint that you are lying and it would sabotage your relationship with him forever.

BPO blues: India is competitor, says Obama!
Jun 11, 2008 Business
The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama while outlining his vision on the 21st century US economy in a speech on Monday said, “Revolutions in communication and technology have sent jobs wherever there’s an internet connection; that have forced children in Raleigh and Boston to compete for those jobs with children in Bangalore and Beijing,”
Obama wants to make the US economy strong and competitive again by expanding opportunity outward rather than clamping down on outsourcing to countries like India and China.
“We live in a more competitive world, and that is a fact that cannot be reversed,” Obama acknowledged as he kicked off his presidential election campaign in Raleigh, North Carolina by accusing his Republican rival John McCain of essentially endorsing President George Bush’s flawed policies.
Obama outlined his vision of building “21st century economy that works for working Americans.” He said he too believed in the cause of free trade, as professed by Bush but with a difference. “There is nothing protectionist about demanding that trade spreads the benefits of globalization as broadly as possible.”
“Because we know that we can’t or shouldn’t put up walls around our economy, a long-term agenda will also find a way to make trade work for American workers.”
“We do the cause of free-trade - a cause I believe in - no good when we pass trade agreements that hand out favors to special interests and do little to help workers who have to watch their factories close down,” Obama said.
According to Obama, he had “a fundamentally different vision of where to take the country” from his Republican rival involving both a short-term plan to help working families who are struggling to keep up and a long-term agenda to make America competitive in a global economy.
His long-term agenda will require the US to first and foremost to train and educate its workforce with the skills necessary to compete in a knowledge-based economy.

Online Dating – Do’s and Don’ts
Feb 19, 2008 Relationship Advice
In the world of internet, most of the relationships start with online dating. Way to find love and a life partner too can be through internet. Online dating was a rare thing to follow earlier but no-a-days trend has changed. People prefer online dating as it suits their busy schedules also. Online dating is not just for young singles, you can be 19 or 90, black or white, spiritual or not, and so on, and enjoy online dating. Today’s market on the internet is flooded with quality dating services designed to meet all types of people and lifestyles. But do you know how to start for a successful online date?? What are the various aspects to be taken care to get something better in this online dating world??
From general Do’s and Don’ts of online relationships, to using the various dating services available online, there are a few tips for all users.
With hundreds of online dating services, choosing a one can be a difficult task. The important thing is to always read the Privacy Policy, About Us page, and the FAQ page. It will provide the insight of that service, helping make the decision easier.
Then coming to your online dating profile; it should be the perfect and appreciable.
“Look around; you tell me — how good are profiles these days,” said Evan Marc Katz, dating expert and author of “I Can’t Believe I’m Buying This Book: A Commonsense Guide to Successful Internet Dating.” Katz has written some 500 profiles for clients on his online profile writing service, E-Cyrano.
Profile should be specific. Be daring to share your likes and dislikes clearly. It should contain updated information with appealing description with a fascinating photograph too. Old photos are the most negative part in a profile.
Be honest in your writings. Being there means that you people hopefully want to meet each other in future, then there should be an honest relation from the start.
Another piece of advice is to drop the bad vibes. Most people know exactly what they are not seeking, but pointing that out repels potential dates.
Instead of saying certain types need not apply — an alcoholic who can’t pay his bills, say, or old men under five-feet — tell people what you are looking for, Katz said. “Your job is not to stop the wrong people from writing to you but attracting the right people.”
Also there are some disadvantages with tremendous advantages of online dating. With online dating, you are learning about a person on words only! U can’t see him like in traditional dating. While this is great for getting to know someone very clear in the words by heart and not their looks, it also creates the challenge in that you cannot see the reactions that go along with the words.
Unfortunately, far too many people start sharing some very intimate and personal things as they try to overcome the barrier of not having a visual connection. This is not the right time to share certain aspects of your life initially. When you first start communicating with a person, the tone should be light and fun. If that friendship builds over time, then other more personal details can be discussed. You should take extra care regarding safety when considering online dating.
If these aspects are taken care then you will definitely not regret of using online dating and will get what you are what you are looking for. Next Valentine’s Day will be all yours following these tips!
