Deshmukh welcomes migrants to Mumbai with anti encroachment rules!
Maharashtra Chief Minister first time give his statement on the migrant issue in the state saying that people from other states are welcome to live in Mumbai but they should not construct illegal encroachments which deprive citizens of public amenities.
“We cannot stop migrants from coming to the state but anti-encroachment restrictions can be imposed upon them,” he said.
Maharashtra government decided to make strict rules against encroachment by migrants from other states.
“Migrants cannot misuse the city’s infrastructure, which is meant for taxpayers because the city’s infrastructure is heavily burdened,” Deshmukh said.
Reportedly Biharis and North Indians migrate in major population in Maharashtra. Raj Thackray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Seva (MNS) had started campaign against North Indians and Biharis. Deshmukh is trying to solve the migrant issue and the subsequent issue caused by it.
The government’s housing projects for low income group would provide houses on rent for the poor, may solve the problem of increasing slums in the metropolis, he said.
On the other side, BJP minister and Bollywood actor Shatrughan Sinha said that no visa is required to live and work in any region of India. He also said that North Indians should avoid giving any controversial statements on any comment. He appealed North Indians living in Maharashtra to solve the issue intelligently and peacefully. He said if ‘Bhojpuri’ is their mother tongue and Bihar is their native place then Maharashtra is their work place.
