World Bank Report blames America for food scarcity!

World Bank report published in a London based news daily, ‘Guardian’, says that the global food scarcity and soaring inflation is because of increasing production of Bio-fuels in America.

President George W Bush’s accusation on China and India for causing inflation and scarcity of food has been substantiated proved wrong by this report published on Friday. The report further said that Bio fuel production which mainly uses food crops like Maize, rapeseed and soybean hiked the price to 75 %. This statement also proved wrong the president Bush’s claim of 3% rise in prices.

More then 100 million people would be affected with inflation and food scarcity. The European countries like America are widely depending on Bio fuels is the only issue of inflation and the scarcity of food grains.

At the same time, the growth of the food grains is not on par with developing economy in some countries, is also another major factor. The uncontrollable surging prices of food grains pushed millions of families into famine. Families are left on modest diet because of soaring inflation rate and increasing food prices. A common man is unable to meet their daily requirements and govt. is unable to find any solution to stop this crisis.

Climate change can’t be tackled without India, China: Bush!

To tackle climate change, a crucial global issue, needs the involvement of developing countries like India and China. These are the views of George Bush.

“By working on new technologies and working to make sure that China and India are at the table, that’s the way to try to tackle this problem,” White House spokesperson Dana Perino said on the fall of a climate change bill after a procedural vote in the Senate on Friday.

“And President George Bush will certainly talk about this when he’s in Europe next week.” She added.

Global warming is a matter of concern all over the world. Increasing level of carbon on Earth and melting ice caps mirrors drastic changes in climate in near future.

The bill to set up a cap-and-trade system to limit climate-warming carbon emissions aimed to cut total US global warming emissions by 66 percent by 2050. Opponents said it would cost US jobs and raise fuel prices in an already pinched American economy.

“Let’s just say we did not support the bill,” said Perino. Bush had threatened to veto it in its current form citing among other things for not seeking action at home in concert with India, China and other emerging economies.

Apart from Presidential opposition, she suggested the bill fell because the Democratic majority “wasn’t even going to spend enough time to allow people to have any chance of talking about it or amending” what they called “the most important bill to face this Congress.”

“And this is a bill that would have a huge impact on the economy, and a huge impact on people, working people, in America, and probably not have a lot of impact overseas,” Perino said.

Neither the Democrat Presidential candidate Barack Obama nor his Republican counterpart John McCain cast votes on the bill.

Critical discussion to IAEA on Monday!

India will have an important discussion regarding next round of Nuclear Safeguard agreement with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna on Monday. This is a necessary condition for India-America nuclear deal. Indian group reached Vienna on Sunday to talk about the matter under supervision of R.B. Grover, a senior member of Department of Atomic Energy. This conversation between India and IAEA is expected to continue till the end of this month.

Indian debaters and IAEA team will keep informing about the progress of their discussion to the board of Governors of IAEA which will ease the formal presentation of the issue to the board. But it is not known whether the issue will be presented in the foregoing meeting of the board on 3rd march.

There had been four conversations in Vienna between India and IAEA since November last year. Instead of this, there were many informal discussions between both the parties. The motive of this conversation was to draft the safeguard agreement for India. Recently America asked India to finish the debate with IAEA and Nuclear Supplier Group (NSG) forcing to take action regarding the start nuclear deal. If unable to do so, India will not be able to get similar deal. Though India refused this statement of America saying that it is a crucial matter and will take time.

Anil Kakodkar, Chairman of Atomic Energy Commission, said that we should complete it as soon as possible, but it will go through a long process because it should be completed in a proper way and it is necessary to fulfill all the needs. It includes many steps and we have to take action step by step. If the Safeguard agreement is not prepared in this week, than India will have to wait for next board meeting going to be held in June. This will mean that India will be unable to complete the deadline of May put by America.

According to M.R. Srinivasan, member of Atomic Energy Commission, Safeguard agreement is important for India. Once the draft for this agreement is ready, it will be inspected and will be presented to political committee of UPA-left for their permission.

America’s spy satellite destroyed before crash!

America has destroyed its spy satellite US-193 in space before its toxic fuel tank crashes to Earth, a Pentagon source said on Thursday.

America has shown its technical capability once again by this intelligent act. America has destroyed this satellite by a missile fired from a US Navy warship.

“The missile’s been launched and was a successful intercept,” the source said.

The Pentagon said last week that President George Bush had decided the Navy should try to shoot down the satellite because its tank of hazardous hydrazine could leak if it enters the atmosphere and reaches Earth.

It is known that Russia and China have expressed concern about the operation and criticized America. The Russian Defense Ministry said it could be used as cover to test a new space weapon.

Washington has insisted the operation is purely to prevent people being harmed by the satellite’s fuel load.
