Two Big Losses on a single Night - Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett!

The morning of 26th June brought two sad news to us and those are the death of the two mega stars Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett. First the news of the death of the Farrah Fawcett, who was struggling against Cancer from last three years, came and then we hear that due to a cardiac arrest in Los Angeles Michael Jackson also died.

Michael Jackson, who was probably the world’s most known person, died at the age of 50. He was the person who undoubtedly changed the world of music. We first came to know about his death via twitter the popular social networking site, many celebrities (actors and musicians) sent there condolences in twitter.

Although Jackson was a controversial personality but his contribution to the world of music can not be overruled. He was the magician, and his loss would never be filled up by any one. I am feeling sad about his parents and fans.

On the other hand Farrrah Dawcett, the best-selling pinup girl in history, lost her battle against cancer. She was 62. She was struggling against Cancer from last three years. It was her brilliant performance as one of the three sexy crime fighters in Charlie’s Angels, which brought her popularity and fame. One of her poster in a red swimsuit sold around 12 millions copies, which is the best record so far for a poster.

My deep condolences for the death of these two mega stars Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett.

Claudia Ciesla - The New Girl Friend of Salman Khan!

So far it was assumed that most searched Indian Celebrity Katrina Kaif is the girl friend of Salman Khan the most eligible bachelor guy of India. There are rumors of their break up in air from last few days, and do you know who is behind all these stuff? It is Claudia Ciesla the hot German Model and the friend of Salman Khan.

A few day’s back Salman Khan claimed on a TV program that his dad once asked him (when he was a teenager), do you have girl friend? He replied yes, so his dad asked him to take her to the family so that she can meet with them. Salman claimed that since that day he has taken so many girls to his family and now he is really serious to stop all this. It means he is really serious to marry some one now.

It was assumed that Kate is the “would be” wife of the handsome Bollywood star, but with the news of Claudia Ciesla in the life of Salman Khan, this pair is seems to facing some trouble. Although as usual Claudia claims that Salman and she are just friends, but she also claims that Sallu Miyan took her to meet his family.

Claudia Ciesla who is making her debut in the Bollywood in the movie Karma: Crime, Passion, Reincarnation, but she is more in news because of her affair with Salman Khan. Although no one is sure about the news, but Claudia and Salman Khan both has claimed that they are only a good friend and there is nothing wrong in between Kate and Sallu Miyan.

Wish the Best of Luck in Your Own Style to Team India!

Hey friends, I am creating this post for you people to wish a warm Best of Luck to the Team India. As you all are aware that 12 cricket playing nations India, Bangladesh, Ireland, Pakistan, England, Netherlands, Australia, Sri Lanka, West Indies, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sctland are going to fight for the World Cup in the Twenty 20 cricket format which is beginning today at England.

As you all are aware that Team India is the defending champions and other 11 countries are going to challenge them for the trophy. India is placed along with Bangladesh and Ireland in the Group A, while Pakistan, England and Netherlands are placed together in Group B. The most toughest group of the tournament is the Group C which contains Australia, Sri Lanka and West Indies, while the Group D is containing New Zealand, South Africa and Scotland.

At the moment Team India is looking highly capable of retaining the Title. The team at the moment is a bunch of some highly talented youngsters along with some multi talented guys and captained by the Mr. Cool M. S. Dhoni. If you look at the top order then dashing opener Virender Sehwag is there with much talented Gautam Gambhir. This opening pair is the best of all the teams which are playing there. If you give an eye on the middle order then you can truly find India as the World Champions. Middle order of team India is having the firepower in the form of the King of Six Yuvraj Singh, most attacking batsman Suresh Raina, very dependable Rohit Sharma and the skipper himself. Along with them the team has the superb all rounders like Yusuf Pathan, Ravindra Jadeja and Irfan Pathan. Now if you see the bowling attack then it too have the balance which is very much required for a World Champions team, the seam attack department is there in the hand of Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, highest wicket taker in the IPL 2009 Rudra Pratap Singh and much reliable Praveen Kumar, and then the spin attack is there in the hand of Harbhajan Singh and Pragyan Ojha. Remember the team has two batsman who can bowl brilliantly at crucial time, I am talking about Yuvraj Singh and Rohit Sharma, Both has shown their talents in the IPL 2009 by taking the hat-trick in the tournament. Yuvraj Singh took 2 hat-tricks while Rohit Sharma took 1. Now if your team is having these type of players how can you assume them not to retain the trophy. Only thing which can damage the performance of the team India is the overconfidence, which they will have to take care of.

So friends, here is the space where you can wish the best of luck to your favorite Team India especially in your own style. You can post the comment here and this will show them how much you love them and how much you care about the world champions.

IPL and money!

It’s only in its second season yet, but the term IPL and money have almost become synonymous. It’s no  doubt that the 20-20 cricket format has been evolved for wholesome entertainment-with all the music, cheerleaders and sixes, and anything which entertains has huge money attached to it; especially when its cricket. Needless to say IPL has made all the parties attached to it-the players, team owners, BCCI and sponsors; all happy.

Well a little bit about the Indian premier league’s origin- so it’s only in its second season, it was launched by the BCCI in the year 2008. The format of the IPL is much on the lines of English premier league (remember all the flashy names like Knight Riders and Deccan chargers!), and the much controversial cheerleaders are also taken from it. The IPL is basically based on the franchise system where the highest bidder gets to own the team. Also this encourages a lot of betting. That is the reason that IPL has huge stakes involved in it. In fact it is not just a sport now, it’s more of a business and the businesspersons involved are A class celebs. Be it SRK, Preity Zinta or  Ambani, all of them are big time celebrities. They all have huge stakes in their own teams in IPL, amounting to some hundred crores of rupees! And here is the jaw dropping figure- the total base price for auction in IPL was whopping $400 million! Quite a sum I would call it.

Dhoni was the most expensive player in the first season bought by the Chennai super Kings team and now in season two Andrew Flintoff has beaten Dhoni for the most expensive player title. Basically there much more than meets the eye at the IPL. It has graduated from being a sport to being a form of entertainment and currently the IPL is Post Graduating from being entertainment to a big money making industry.

Indian Hockey, returning back to the glorious past!

With a cricket crazy nation like ours, where from kids to grandmas are hooked to the square cuts and clean bowled, seldom do we pay much attention to our official national game-hockey. How many times have you ever heard your friends praising our hockey players, and let alone praising, do you even know the player’s names when you know what is the favorite bathroom song of your favorite cricketer?

Well I am not trying to make you feel guilty here but just talking about how your days are going to change as our very own national sport hockey is bringing back home the prestigious trophies. Recently our hockey team beat the host nation Malaysia 3-1 to bring home the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, which was the fourth such experience for our hockey team. This just happened at the right time for India would be facing the world cup challenge next year. And all our team needs right now is support from us fans, the media and the government. All three entities can together bring back the game of hockey to life.

Probably hockey needs to learn a lot from its counterpart cricket. So to begin it needs its own well organized federation like BCCI to make the sport more organized and to fill its shortcomings. The next big support has to come from the media be it electronic or print. Our hockey team has been winning in the past as much as our cricket team but still it fails to make it to the headlines, where as even when a cricketer gets married; his photographs are adorned on the front pages. So probably the media can bring about the much needed change and move up hockey as much as cricket. Well I am not saying that hockey should replace cricket, but may be the two of them could co-exist together.

When people will see or read more of hockey then obviously they are bound to get more involved in it. Also our government should not be partial towards cricket and completely ignore the national sport. I mean have you ever thought when our cricket team wins; the government announces flats, lands and huge sums of money for the cricketers whereas when the hockey players win, they barely make it to a page in the newspaper. So basically the system needs to be revamped, like government investing more in hockey, building proper infrastructure and training facilities, people taking a little more interest in the sport, media putting some extra words on the victories and I am sure soon the game can win back its well deserved position.

The Best Example of Globalization!

These days money has become the most powerful factor through out the world. I was really shocked to see that one small game Cricket is going to establish a new example, a new trend which includes the combination of sport ship along with the power of money and glamor. This is for sure the best example of globalization.

I was surprised to see the immense popularity which Indian Premier League, the organization of the T20 cricket matches, by the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI), got during last season. This year, IPL 2 has crossed the boundaries of nation, and now it is all set to develop a new example of globalization.

A tournament which was originally developed for India is now shifted to South Africa (for the reason of General Elections in India). The tournament which was mainly claimed by the organizers that it will provide the platform for the Indian players has now totally shifted to the hands of the players who don’t belong to India. Here are a few examples:

The captaincy of the Kolkata Knight Riders has taken from the Icon Player of team Saurav Ganguly and given to the dashing Kiwi player McCullum. As far as the point of view of the team is concerned, they are free to take any decision in the favor of their team, but I think the idea of dropping Ganguly as the skipper, or the idea of four skippers in a match, which was in air a few days back, are all silly, as without Ganguly there is no identity of the team. As far as my views are concerned, I think Dada should come back to India. People from Bengal are really hurt from this issue and we don’t know why Dada is still there in the team. He is undoubtedly the best ever player of the Kolkata and the team which is representing the City of Joy should for sure include him as the skipper.

The second example is the exit of Mohhamad Kaif and a few more players (all Indian) from the Rajasthan Royals team. The reason behind is still not clear to any one, some one claims it is because of a rift between the skipper and coach Shane Warne and Kaif, some says it is because of an attempt to cut the cost of the team. If the first reason is true then too my views is that the team management require interfering in the matter and solving the matter. If the second reason is true then why they did not remove any player who was not Indian?

These examples are a few examples which are a clear indication that Indian Premiere League is not the Indian League any more. For last season at least it looked like an Indian league whether it is because of the Indian Players in the decision making slot, or whether it was played in the presence of the cricket crazy Indian fans, but this time I am not sure if it can generate the same type of attraction among the Indian people.

Indian Premier League 2009 – IPL 2!

I still remember the days when the first session of Indian Premier League was going on, after the evening not many people are looking outside their home. Everybody was just sitting in front of their TV screen and was watching the match. No one was looking interested to do any work except cheering for his or her favorite team.

The TRP of the SET MAX the official broadcaster of the tournament increased within very first week of the tournament and remain at the highest level throughout the tournament. Max was looking keen to gain the same TRP once again during the second version of the smaller format of the cricket match. As we are well aware that Indian Premier League, which is popularly known as IPL, is organized by the Indian cricket board BCCI. It is a tournament of twenty 2o cricket matches.

A few days back lots of drama evolved around the organization of the second version of the IPL, which is going to be known as IPL 2. The actual problem was the dates which were colliding with the general by elections in India, and thus Indian Government was not so much interested to take the risk. After the Mumbai attack government was not really looking to provide any opportunity to the terrorists. So lots of arguments came in and against the organization of the IPL 2 and finally the organizing body decided to take away the organization from India to some neutral locations.

After much consideration between England and South Africa for the possible location to host IPL 2, BCCI decided to organize the IPL 2 in South Africa. The detailed schedule of the IPL 2 is given below:

Slumdog Millionaire, a British movie with an Indian heart!

One time I thought this movie will appeal only to Indian audiences, but the film has gone global and won the Oscar, not only one or two, but eight. The movie Slumdog Millionaire is made by the British director Danny Boyle.

The novel on which this film is based has 12 chapters answering 12 questions to win that million by Jamal, the given name in the novel was Ram Mohammed Thomas, but the director changed that to Jamal for the film. Likewise there have been minor changes to maintain the pace of the movie Slumdog Millionaire.

It is a Hollywood-Bollywood movie. It grips you from the start and takes you through a roller coaster ride first through the biggest slum of Bombay, Dharabi and then the under belly of Bombay.

The story is of a boy growing up in Dharabi and wins a crore in Kaun Banega Crorepati or 2 million dollar. He correctly answers all 12 questions though being an illiterate. The answer of each question has story to tell connected with his life.

India justifiably has much to celebrate about Slumdog’s night of Oscar glory. A R Rahman struck the high note with two Oscars. Rahman’s music is rooted in the soul and sensibilities of the best of the Indian classical tradition and yet retains the ability to resonate internationally.

I think director has done a good job by not choosing the known faces of Bollywood for the lead cast, though the story is farfetched but the casting coup of anonymous actors has made it quite plausible. It is a compelling film which is continuously moving forward backward like life itself.

The last scene with a Bollywood style dance on the railway platform will remind you that there is a Bollywood in the movie. It is a director’s movie…. It is a British movie with Indian heart.
