How to keep your gums healthy? One of the most common question which we generally ask us is how can we keep our gums and teeth healthy.
Well to be honest, bleeding gums are the very first sign of gums problem. If you see blood while washing your teeth, or eating something, it means a danger sign for you and your gums.
Why am I writing this post?
Well, frankly within last two to three months, I saw my mom, then dad and then my wife struggling due to dental problems. All three of them, along with me spent hours at a local dental clinic. Since I accompanied them for each meeting, I realized dental problems are one of the most commonly ignored things of our body.
We normally ignore them, unless and until it becomes vital. As a fact we normally are not that much keen to make them healthy as well. Is not it a fact that we ignore our teeth’s and gums?
What need to do? We don’t have the time to think about our friends only, how can we spend so much time on taking care of our teeth? – One of the most common responses which you can get from anyone.
Well, it is not only our own duty, but it is required as well to maintain proper dental health.
Well to be honest, there are some natural ways through which you can avoid your dentists, like brushing, that too in a proper manner, flossing, eating in a right manner, and rinsing. Still it is advised that you should not avoid your dentist and visit them at least once or twice a year to maintain proper dental health.
Here are the 6 ways to keep your gums healthy:
It is always advised that we should at least brush twice a day, once in the morning, before taking any food, and once before sleeping. When you avoid brushing at night, it might happen that food items remained with your teeth attract bacteria’s and causes tooth decay.
Ideally we should brush every time we eat something, though practically it’s kind of impossible so we can at least brush twice a day.
Brushing actually removes the plaque which is one kind of bacteria which clings to our teeth.
Always use better quality toothpaste, take around a pea-sized dab of the same and brush your teeth with proper care and around at a 45 degree angle to the gum line. As per my dentist, many people don’t know how to brush properly, and this is why they injures their gums and teeth.
Well, when I discussed with my dentist, I came to know that actually there are no differences in the brands of toothpastes, all of them almost serves the same, and only difference between them is their flavor and taste.
Well, your toothbrush plays a vital role in the process of making your gums and teeth’s healthy. Many people have an opinion that any brush can have the ability to protect your teeth, but it’s not true.
Choosing a proper brush for your mouth wash is very much required. Small head brush with soft and rounded bristles is a must and necessarily required for the protection of your gums.
Well, flossing is also a key player for your dental health. Also many people have the tendency of using toothpicks for removing food items from their mouth. In fact inter dental brushes are the exact solution for this rather than using toothpicks. Toothpicks might damage your teeth’s and gums.
On the other hand floss also serves the same purpose. It gets rid of the food and plaque item between your teeth and vital for places where toothbrushes are impossible to reach.
So it is always advisable to floss everyday at least once.
Mouthwash is one of the most important aspects of cleaning your teeth, gums and the entire mouth. You need to use a good mouthwash, which can kill all the remaining bacteria’s of your mouth. It can also remove plaque.
Well, in case you don’t have any mouthwash available you can also use your own mouthwash, you can take Luke warm water along with salt and gargling with the same.
Well, I was not aware that smoking is also dangerous for your gums, though I am a non-smoker. As I came through this I realized I should blog about and it and this is the reason why I am writing this blog.
Smoking is not only injurious for your health, but it is also bad for your gums and dental health.
So quitting smoking might increase the life of your teeth and make gums healthier.
Though I am visiting my dentist on almost every week, just because of the poor dental condition of my parents and wife, but it is actually important to visit your dentist regularly at least twice a year. Your dentist is the ideal person who can actually guide you to get healthy mouth.
We actually don’t realize the importance of our oral health, we feel bad when we realize that it is hurting now or when we see bleeding gums. So as we say that precaution is the best way to stay protected, we should take care of our oral health and these tips might help you to ensure good oral health for the rest of your life. It’s nothing so late.
