There’s no doubt that everyone is affected and influenced by technology. While mechanical inventions might be in the doldrums, it’s all plain sailing in the technology race. Technological inventions from the past decade have been life changing and have changed the way that we interact with each other and the planet.

The past ten years have seen a tremendous amount of technological advancements from mobile phones through to the personal computer. With every year new inventions and developments in existing technology continue to make our daily lives and business dealing easier.

Social Media – Connected Across the World
No list of technology inventions would be complete without a mention of social media. Facebook was not the first social networking website, but its introduction in 2004 was the most influential in the development of the medium.Facebook has over 500 million members. Weibo in China has over 650 million users and Orkut in Brasil and India have captured the attention of millions of people. The technology behind social media has changed the way we communicate and reach out to each other forever.

The iPod
It’s not always been a story of success for Apple, during the late 1990’s the company was fighting to make a profit and be accepted by the mainstream market. Since the introduction of the iPod in 2001 the world of music and entertainment changed forever. The iPod did not just give us a personal music player, it changed the way we receive, share and consume music forever. The iPod also deserve a mention as the device that took smart phones to a new level of sophistication and style.

The invention of HD LCD television has done more than provide for better quality television viewing. Blu-Ray, LED technology and 3D would not be around today without the strides in television technology.

Prior to the millennium, the Atari and Nintendo were the closest thing we had to arcade games in your living room. Sony changed the gaming world with the Playstation, Nintendo made it a better place to live in with Wii and Xbox 360 gave us the ultimate game experience in one handy box.

Wireless Communication
In 2002 the wireless headset made its first appearance. The world was suddenly filled with people seemingly talking to themselves. Bluetooth, as it is now called, was a communication game changer that allowed people to experience true wireless gadgetry.

The last decade has the seen the launch of the Retail DNA Test as well as the first artificial heart. Strides are being made in medicine and science every day.

Technology gets smaller and faster each year. Microchips now hold more information. Broadband moves faster. In an online world, technology is the game changer and the renaissance of invention.
