We all know that not many Bollywood stars have been able to make a name in Hollywood. Many actors have tried to make their name in Hollywood like Mallika Sehrawat but only few are well recognized and have been able to create a niche for themselves in the west. Here is a list of few Indians who have made us proud.

Aishwariya Rai Bachhan – she is one lady who cannot be ignored at any cost when talking of celebrities who had been able to mark a name in Hollywood. She made her debut with the film ‘bride and prejudice’, it was an adaptation of Jane Austen’s novel ‘pride and prejudice’, the movie was directed by Gurinder Chadha. This was one of her most successful English movies and she received a lot of appraisal and positive reviews on her performance. Another mind blowing act, she was part of was ‘provoked’; she played the role of a house wife, Kiranjit Ahluwalia, who was subjected to domestic violence. It was a really challenging role and she completely made through it. The last movie she played was “The pink panther 2 (2009)”. Her fame is just not limited to films but she is an influential international figure, she has been representing L’Oreal Paris in the film festival of Cannes for about 10 years.

Gurinder Chadha – she started her career by working in radio and after that moved to news reporting. And finally became a British director having Indian origin. She has won a lot of awards for documentaries from BBC and as well as from British Film Institute. The first documentary by her was released in 1989 ‘I’m British but…’ Her first feature film was ‘bhaji on the beach’, it won a lot of international awards and even got selected for BAFTA for the category of “best British film of 1994”. Next is her most amazing movie ‘bend it like Beckham’. It topped the box office of New Zealand, Australia, US etc., it was purely a commercial and critical hit by Gurinder Chadha. Other films director by her are ‘Bride and Prejudice’, ‘Mistress of Spices’ and the latest one is ‘It’s a Wonderful Afterlife’, this brought the duo of mother and daughter Sharmila Tagore and Soha Ali Khan for the first time on screen.

A.R.Rahman – ‘Elizabeth: The second age’ was his first British movie directed by Shekhar Kapur.  And after he never stopped and you will find his songs in many movies like ‘The accidental husband’, ‘Lord of War’, ‘Inside man’ and so forth. He won a BML London award for best score in 2008 for his Hollywood film ‘couples retreat’. He has won hearts of many from the day he entered the industry of entertainment but it was in 2010 that he mastered international accolades by ‘slum dog millionaire’; he won two academy awards for it. He has even composed for ‘127 hours’, a Danny Boyle’s Movie.
