On one side the final of the DLF IPL 2010 was playing between the Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, and on the other hand yet another match was playing between the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) and IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi. This match was going on from last few days, and tonight BCCI put curtails on it, by suspending Lalit Modi.
BCCI sent the suspension order to the IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi by an email, just after the IPL 2010 final match was over. Modi was also served a show cause notice, and he was given 48 hours to ply to all the charges. The IPL chairman, Lalit Modi, was in news for all the bad reasons from last few days.
BCCI President Mr. Shashank Manohar confirmed that Mr. N Srinivasan, the secretary of BCCI, and he tonight issued the show cause notice to Lalit Modi under section 32 (iv). Also he suspended him with immediate effect.
The reaction of Lalit Modi after the final match was over was a clear indication that this matter will not stop here only. His speech after the match was truly emotional and was an indication that he should not be blamed alone for all the allegations. As per him all the decisions were taken by the IPL Governing Council and there is no unfair decision made. Modi also confirmed that if there is any financial irregularity then he will surely take the blame, as he is the leader of the IPL team.
Earlier BCCI President Shashank Manohar called an IPL Governing Council meeting on Monday 26th of April, after the DLF IPL 2010 was over. Earlier Lalit Modi first called this meeting as illegal as he is the chairman of the IPL Governing Council and he can only call such type of meetings. Then yesterday he set the agenda for the meeting and asked all the written statements in favor of all the allegations.
With the suspension effecting immediately, Lalit Modi was not supposed to attend the Governing Council meeting of the IPL, so BCCI will surely pick an interim IPL chairman or a group to manage the IPL. The meeting will also make out the plans for the future run of the League.
Well, one thing is sure, this drama is not at all going to benefit cricket any how, and also these incidents has demolished the image of the games of the gentlemen. Many people believe that it was the decision of BCCI which gave Lalit Modi the enough power to do all the misconduct. Also as BCCI crushed Indian Cricket League, it gave all the unwanted power to Lalit Modi to hit the Indian Premier League and thus he did whatever he was looking for.
