Music Director and Composer A. R. Rahman won the prestigious Golden Globe Award for his music in the movie ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. The interesting thing is that this movie ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ won all four awards for which the movie was nominated for.
This is for the first time Golden Globe award came to India. A. R. Rahman became the first Indian to won this award.
The movie Slumdog Millionaire is a story of Jamaal, an impoverished orphan from the slums of Mumbai who later on become the Millionaire. This movie is originally based on a novel ‘Q & A’ by Indian diplomat Vikash Swarup and directed by Danny Boyle.
Simon Beaufoy won the Best Screenplay award, while Danny Boyle won the Best Director award in the Golden Globe Awards. Rahman actually won the Best Original Score for his music of the song “Jai Ho”, this song was written by Gulzar. Slumdog Millionaire was also elected as the Best Film.
Allah Rakha Rahman, whose original name is A. Sekhar Dileep Kumar has some nick names as Indian Mozart, Madras Mozart, ‘Isai Puyal’ (Musical Storm) was born on January 6, 1966, in Chennai. His award has brought smiles to the nation.
