Chief Minister of Jharkhand Shibu Soren loses by-election!

In a major set back news, the Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren, who is the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) chief as well lost the crucial assembly by-election. He needed to win the assembly by-election from Tamar constituency to remain in his post of CM.

Soren lost from Tamar constituency by about 9,000 votes to Raja Peter of the Jharkhand Party, a member of the ruling alliance led by the JMM.

Last year, when UPA givernment in Delhi, was looking for the support in parliament for the Indo-US nuke deal then the main demand of the ex-union minister was to became the CM of the state. After winning the confidence motion in parliament, UPA governement allowed him to became the CM of the state Jharkhand.

Sibu Soren became chief minister of Jharkhand in August last year and needed to be elected to the state assembly within a six month period that ends on Feb 27. After loosing the election he declined to resign from the post and he said that after discussing the issue with the UPA he will announce the further step, on the other hand, former Jharkhand CM Madhu Koda is ready to become the CM of the state if he was provided the opportuinity again.
