It’s the voting time in India, and as I reside in Delhi then I will surely go to caste my vote on the voting day i.e. on 29th of November 2008. I have seen a reduction of the percentage of voters in recent time. There are so many reasons why people does not goes to caste the vote, one of the major reason is the candidates of your constituencies.
I have seen so many people who will always ask you, whom to vote for? Because they don’t like any of the candidate who is fighting in your constituencies. Well, don’t be discouraged with the fact that you don’t like any of the candidates. Just go to the polling booth and use your right of ignoring the candidates provided by the Indian Constitution.
I am sure that 90% people are still not aware from this thing that you can caste you’re “No Vote” in polling. Indian Constitution has provided this right to every voter from 1961.
If you consider the scenario of Indian voting then you will see that voting turn out in most of the places are hardly 50 to 60%. In the Delhi state election last time only 53% voter caste their vote. As we are aware that in a constituency more than 10-20 candidate fight for, and if some one is able to get only 10-15% votes of the total voter then he will win the election. See how come a person who is representing only 10-15% voter of that area will represent the area? But this is a truth.
Let me tell you one truth, according to the clause 49 O of Indian Constituency, you can simply visit the polling booth and ask the election officer that you don’t want to give vote to any candidate. In that case he will give you one form, which you will have to fill up and submit to the Presiding Officer. If the total number of these types of forms will increase the number of votes which cast in the favor of the winning candidate, then the election of that constituency will automatically be canceled. Hence your vote will not become a waste.
So don’t wait for any thing and goes to the polling booth and use the rights of casting the vote. If you want to get more information about this right of casting “No Vote” then please call the helpline numbers of Youth for Equality at this number +91-9868340420. If you are not aware from the use of EVM then visit this page http://www.eci.gov.in/Audio_VideoClips/presentation.asp of the Election Commission of India to learn more about the use of Electronic Voting Machine.

thanks for the suggestion.better way would have been to get a good candiadate but these sad politician not voting is good to keep them out.
This is an excellent clause. But, seems to be that, the constitution did not understand the sensitivity of revealing the information about the voter did not like any contestants when he asks the presiding officer.
Election commission should impose this in the ballet paper itself and provide one extra column for “No Vote” which helps Voter to vote safely.
Is this a loop hole deliberately made while ammeding the clause ?
