I wrote another similar article that highlights the benefits of reading. I really liked the "gives a glimpse into other places around the world". It's so obvious, yet many times we forget that reading makes us more cultured.

I find reading can be tedious if you’re reading a novel, but reading the paper, where all you get are the straight facts, plus learning something interesting that you can throw into conversations, is definitely a worthwhile investment.
